A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW ON THE USEFULNESS OF TELEHEALTH INTERVENTION FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITY WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO SAUDI ARABIA
AbstractBackground: Healthcare requirements have changed gradually from the primitive ages to this modern era. Information and communication technology has opened innovative techniques like home healthcare for patients through telehealth use. Aims: 1. To find out the usefulness and effectiveness of telehealth intervention on the daily living activities amongst children with disability in Saudi Arabia. 2. To find out the active engagement and self-management strategies that telehealth can provide for children with disability in Saudi Arabia. Methods: A literature review of 42 articles published in various databases was assessed. The articles having good scientific quality and explaining the usefulness and effectiveness of telehealth intervention on the daily living activities amongst children with disability were included. Results and Discussion: It is currently estimated that 3.73% of the population have functional disabilities which limit their independence. To address the disability issues, one must make use of the present information around the disability prevalence. The criterion for achieving a suitable balance of accommodation and support is a comprehensive assessment of the features of the technology, the relevant environments and the individual. Conclusion: Telehealth is an innovative substitute for managing the continuing care and recovery of patients including children who have severe disabilities and their caregivers.
