DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF A STABILITY INDICATING ASSAY METHOD OF PYRIMETHAINE BY USING DIFFERENT STRESS DEGRADATION CONDITIONS
AbstractThe aim of the present work is to develop simple accurate, precise and cost effective UV-Vis spectrophotometric method for the estimation of pyrimethamine in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form and determination of percent degradation by using different stress condition. The solvent used was methanol and distilled water (40:60) and λmax of the drug was found to be 272.5nm. A linear response was observed in the range 2-20 µg/ml with a regression coefficient 0.999. The method was then validated for different parameters as per the ICH guidelines. This method can be used for the determination of pyrimethamine in quality control of formulation without interference of the excipients. Pyrimethamine was subjected to stress degradation under different conditions recommended by ICH. The samples generated were used for degradation studies using the developed method.
