EVALUATION OF ANALGESIC ACTIVITY OF ETHANOLIC EXTRACT OF TAMARINDUS INDICA LEAVES. ON EXPERIMENTAL ANIMAL MODEL
AbstractThe main objective of the present investigation is to evaluate the analgesic activity of ethanolic extract of Tamarindus indicaL. on mice. Analgesic activity of the ethanolic extract of the Tamarindus indica leaves at a dose of 200mg/kg & 400mg/kg was evaluated against the standard drug Diclofenac-Na at a dose of 25mg/kg. Adult Swiss albino mice of either sex of divided in to 4 groups comprising six numbers in each group was undertaken for study and evaluated by tail immersion method. The three doses of T. indicaleaves ethanolic extract was found to produce significant (p < 0.05) analgesic activity. In tail immersion method the crude extract produced elongation of time 30 minutes after oral dose of 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight respectively. 400 mg dose of Ethanolic extract of Tamarindus indica show analgesic activity comparable to 25mg Standard drug (Diclofenac sodium). 400mg Ethanolic extract of Tamarindus indica shows better result in comparable to standard drug. Ethanolic extract of Tamarindus indicaleaves have potential analgesic activity against stimuli in the tested animals. So, it can be recommended for further studies.
