FORMULATION AND OPTIMIZATION OF FAST DISSOLVING MELOXICAM TABLETS BY VACUUM DRYING TECHNIQUE
AbstractDespite recent success, many fast-dissolving tablets (FDTs) still face problems of low mechanical strength, poor mouth-feel, higher wetting and disintegration times. This research work aimed to overcome from these drawbacks. Attempts were made to prepare fast dissolving tablets by employing vacuum drying technique utilizing single and multi-volatile components. Analysis revealed that, formulation containing camphor and menthol as subliming agents yielded the best result in terms of dissolution rate (M7). Results also revealed that, all the formulations had enough mechanical strength, good mouth-feel and lesser wetting and disintegration time. Stability study indicates that upon storage disintegration and wetting time of tablets decreased significantly without losing their mechanical strength.
