MICELLAR LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY, A GREEN TECHNIQUE FOR ANALYSIS OF DRUG FORMULATIONS; A REVIEW
AbstractThe most commonly used analytical method in drug research is reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). RP-HPLC methods also use huge quantities of solvents and generate by-products that must be disposed of, posing environmental and operator health worries. Micellar Liquid Chromatography (MLC) is a green chromatographic process for pharmaceutical analysis in which surfactants are applied above the Critical Micellar Concentration in the mobile phase (CMC). The ability of micelles to solubilize compounds that are not soluble or sparingly soluble in water is one of their properties; this property is critical for advancing analytical methods. MLC is also compliant with current RP-HPLC systems. As a result, no changes to the current RP-HPLC instrument are needed. MLC (micellar liquid chromatography) is a green and long-term method for analyzing medication compositions. MLC is not only the more environmentally friendly option, but it is also the more cost-effective. It is believed to have a mobile phase of 90% or more water (v/v), which can be recycled if injection volumes are small and far apart. The present review work will focus on analyzing and quantifying antiretroviral, anti-diabetic, antitumor, and cardiac drug formulations adapting the MLC method.
