SYNTHESIS AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF NEW 3, 4- DIHYDROPYRIMIDINONES
AbstractA number of aldehydes were reacted with acetyl acetone or ethyl acetoacetate and urea under Biginelli reaction conditions to give the corresponding 5-acyl-4-(substituted-aryl)-6-methyl-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-one. The 5-acetyl-derivatives were converted into pyrimido-oxazoles, pyrimido-pyrazoles, and chalcones. Some Mannich bases were also synthesized. Some selected compounds were tested for their antimicrobial activitites.
