AbstractTinospora cordifolia (Thunb.) Miers, (Guduchi) is an evergreen perennial climber. This deciduous and dioecious plant belongs to the family Menispermaceae. It is a plant of significant medicinal importance in the Indian system and designated as Rasayana. Its efficacy has been also recognized by the modern system of medicine. The whole plant is used medicinally however; the stem is approved for use in medicine. This is due to higher alkaloid content in the stems than in the leaves.
