STUDY OF PHYSIOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF ACHYRANTHES ASPERA EXTRACTS
AbstractAchyranthes aspera (Amaranthaceae) is an important medicinal herb found as a weed throughout India. It has been used in almost all the traditional system of medicine, ayurveda, unani, and sidha from the ancient time. It serves as a folk medicine in traditional uses. In present study, the methanolic extract and aqueous extracts of leaf, stem, inflorescence and roots of Achyranthes aspera was screened. The Physio-Chemical Parameters of Achyranthes aspera like determination of moisture content, total ash content, acid insoluble ash content, water soluble ash content and solvent extractive values were done. Qualitative phytochemicals revealed the presence of alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids and glycosides in each extract. In A.aspera extract the moisture content, total ash content, insoluble ash content in stem and roots was more than leaf and inflorescence and water soluble ash content was found highest in inflorescence followed by stem then leaf and least in roots.
