HERBAL PLANTS USED IN THE TREATMENT OF UROLITHIASIS: A REVIEW
AbstractKidney stone formation is a complex that results from a succession of several physicochemical events including supersaturation, nucleation, growth, aggregation and retention within the kidneys. Urinary stones affect 10-12 % of the population in industrialized countries. There are only a few geographical areas in which stone disease is rare e.g. Germany and in the coastal areas of Japan. So in the present review aims to give data highlighting the present trends in research of medicinal plants accredited with antiurolithiatic activity. This article may help investigators to identify lead compounds or herbal products responsible for urolithiatic activity.
