Respiratory Allergic Disorders (RADs), including asthma and allergic rhinitis, are increasingly prevalent, especially among children, and significantly affect quality of life. The limitations of conventional therapies in ensuring long-term relief have prompted the search for alternative remedies. Ayurveda attributes RADs to vitiation of Vata and Kapha doshas and considers impaired immunity due to Ama formation as a key pathological factor. Vyaghri JeerakaAvaleha, an Ayurvedic polyherbal formulation comprising Solanum surattense (Vyaghri), Cuminum cyminum (Jeeraka), Emblica officinalis (Amalaki), and Madhu (Honey), offers a multifaceted approach to the management of RADs. This review compiles pharmacological and Ayurvedic evidence highlighting the formulation’s anti-asthmatic, bronchodilatory, antitussive, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects. Vyaghri exhibits bronchodilatory and anti-histaminic properties, while Jeeraka and Amalaki contribute to immune modulation and digestive stimulation, potentially addressing gut dysbiosis often linked with allergies. Madhu enhances bioavailability and contributes anti-inflammatory benefits. Together, these ingredients synergistically work through Rasayana (rejuvenation), Deepana (appetizing), Pachana (digestive), and Vata-Kapha-hara actions to alleviate symptoms and reduce recurrence of RADs. This integrative review supports the potential of Vyaghri JeerakaAvaleha...

The most serious health issues facing the world today are blindness and vision impairment, which have a significant financial and societal cost. Delivering drugs to specific ocular regions is challenging due to the eye anatomical and physiological elimination mechanisms. When drugs are instilled to the eye using traditional delivery systems, their ocular bioavailability is low. These methods can avoid the ocular obstacles that currently limit the effectiveness of conventional therapies. They can also provide a longer-lasting release of the drug, which reduces dosing frequency and improves patient compliance. Drug delivery techniques based on nanotechnology, including micelles, nanosuspensions, nanoparticles, colloidal emulsions, niosomes and cubosomes offer efficient alternatives to conventional eye therapy. These devices are being used to study treatments for conditions affecting the anterior portion of the eye. The several delivery methods based on nanotechnology that are being researched for the treatment of anterior eye disorders are covered in this paper. The present and promising advancements in in-situ gelling as a means of delivering ocular medication were reviewed and summarized...

Lutein, a xanthophyll carotenoid found in most of the leafy greens and medicinal plants, promotes eye health by filtering blue light and reducing oxidative stress. It gathers in the macula, helping shield the eyes from conditions like age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy. This review compiles information from databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and ResearchGate. Studies indicate that lutein supplementation enhances contrast sensitivity, boosts macular pigment density, and supports retinal function, particularly in those with age-related macular degeneration. Beyond ocular benefits, lutein demonstrates neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, supporting cognitive function and skin health. Studies indicate that lutein is generally safe, even at higher doses, with no significant adverse effects reported. This review highlights lutein’s broad health benefits and emphasizes the need for further research to determine optimal intake levels. Including lutein-rich foods or supplements in daily nutrition can support long-term health and wellness essential for body...

Inflammation is considered as a biological response of the human body that counteracts harmful stimuli by activating different anti-inflammatory cellular signaling pathways to maintain good health and well-being. However, the persistence of inflammation in tissue or organ may lead to adverse chronic inflammatory responses resulting in diseases of chronic nature. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), glucocorticoids, and immune suppressants are widely used to minimize adverse responses mediated by inflammation. However, the development of detrimental side effects in long-term usage of these drugs has directed the scientific community towards identifying novel and safe plant-based anti-inflammatory agents. The plant-based novel drug discoveries involve in a wide range of preliminary in-vitro assessment methods. This article review the methods, principles, advantages and limitations of different assay procedures that have been widely used in evaluating anti-inflammatory properties. Aim of this review is to provide a guidance for identifying plant derived natural compounds with potential anti-inflammatory...
