Enzymes are biocatalysts that accelerate biotic reactions positively or negatively. Proteases are small types of enzymes that cleave peptide bonds. These proteases can be produced by microbes (fungi, bacteria, and viruses), plants, and animals. The catalytic site is only visible from the outside and is broadly dispersed on the surfaces of different cell types. Based on the position of the cleavage site in the putative substrate, these peptidases can be classified as endopeptidases or exopeptidases. These peptidases are used in a variety of industries, including laundry detergents, leather and fabric processing, food processing, baking, flesh tenderization, food additives, artificial sweetener synthesis, feed, cheese making and the dairy industry, soy sauce production, brewing and cereal processing, photography, environmental bioremediation, medical and pharmaceutical industries, plant pathology, nitrogen production, and so on. Proteases are classified based on physiological roles. Extracellular proteases breakdown down large proteins into smaller parts on the other hand, intracellular proteases helps in the regulation of...

Bhavaprakasha is Ayurveda’s important nighantu (Lexicon) written in the sixteenth century AD. Many useful herbs are mentioned in Bhavaprakasha Nighantu that can be used daily. However, one common misconception is that all ayurvedic drugs are safe and devoid of any side effects since they are of herbal origin is not true. Ayurvedic herbs sometimes become harmful based on the condition of the patient. The present review reports cautions and contraindications in administering certain herbs mentioned in Bhavaprakasha Nighantu for pregnant ladies and those who wish to conceive. Out of total of twenty-three Vargas (Classified groups), six vargas that is Harithakyadi to Amradi Phala varga of Chunekar commentary of Bhavaprakasha Nighantu were reviewed. Hareethakyadi, Karpooradi, Guduchyadi, Pushpadi, Vadaadi, Amradi Phala, comprising two seventy-nine herbs were reviewed critically with regards to their already mentioned action on conceived women and who wish to conceive from Bhavaprakasha Nighantu under four headings (1) Garbhasravakara / Garbhapathakara herbs (Abortifacients) (2) Garbhanirodhakara (Contraceptive) (3) Garbhashaya sankocha kara (Oxytocics) (4) Avrishya (Anaphrodisiac). Also more than a hundred...

In mid-November 2021, the new OMICRON variety was first discovered in South Africa. As of today, the OMICRON version already appeared on December 15, 2021. Around 77 countries are affected, with the bulk of cases originating in the United States, India, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. OMICRON-positive instances were also reported. The first mortality associated with the novel COVID-19 mutation was reported in the United Kingdom. Recently, a sister variant of OMICRON, 21L or BA.2, has also been discovered. Due to its enormously high number of mutations, viewed enhancement in immune evasion and transmissibility, OMICRON was developed as a new variant of concern (VOC) by the WHO on 26 November 2021. On a global pandemic scale, positive selection of SARS-CoV-2 mutations appears to have begun in late 2020. Since then, the virus has been evolving on two fronts: immune evasion and enhanced transmissibility, as expressed by Delta. This review elaborates the effects of drugs in the management of...

Selenium (Se) is a fundamental micro nutrient of life forms and has significant capacity. It takes part in the elements of seleno protein in a few habits. As of late, this has drawn in much consideration because of its restorative potential against a few illnesses. Numerous natural Se-containing compounds, both natural and artificial, have been identified, studied and used in the treatment of cancer and other illnesses. Regardless, the “precise intracellular targets”, “signaling pathways” influenced and instruments of cell demise drew in following therapy change depending on the synthetic features of the seleno substance. Normally happening natural Se compounds, other than including a huge anti tumor action with an obvious capacity to forestall metastasis, additionally appear to have less aftereffects and less foundational impacts as detailed for some, inorganic Se...

For almost five decades, from its application in preserving blood plasma to stabilizing pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals, lyophilization has been used in life sciences. Lyophilization is a popular drying technique for preserving various drugs, formulations and biological materials such as proteins, plasma, and living cells. The researchers have made significant efforts to develop lyophilized nanoparticulate drug delivery formulations. During lyophilization, biological products and vaccines could be increased by removing solvents and the shelf-life of injectables. Thus, lyophilization unstable or heat-sensitive drugs/biologicals can be dried at low temperatures without damaging their physical structure. Lyophilized products can be reconstituted quickly and easily, improving shelf life and easy transportation. Vast applications of lyophilization in the Pharmaceutical Area established the importance of lyophilization techniques in the pharmaceutical field. The present review aims to update recent and advanced applications of Lyophilization techniques in Pharmaceuticals and biological products such as Antibiotics, Vaccines, proteins, enzymes, and...
