The plant Salvia hispanica belongs to the family Lamiaceae, a highly valued medicinally important seed, commonly known as chia seeds. About 75% of the fats in chia seeds consist of omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), while about 20% consist of omega-6 fatty acid. Omega-3s play an important role in sharpening memory and improving mood. Chia seeds also contain polyunsaturated fatty acids, dietary fiber, proteins, vitamins (A, C, E, niacin, thiamine), and minerals. Besides this, the seeds are an excellent source of polyphenols and antioxidants, such as caffeic acid, rosmarinic acid, myricetin, quercetin, and others. These antioxidants exhibit the capacity to scavenge free radicals. Chia’s health benefits as a dietary supplement and efforts are underway to promote it as ‘functional food’ owing to the presence of α-linolenic acid, an essential precursor fatty acid of physiologically significant polyunsaturated fatty acids. Chia seeds also possess various pharmacological activities like anti-inflammatory, antihypertensive, anti-diabetic, anti-cancer and it also reduces the risk factors of heart disease. It is commonly used for weight loss. And it also...

Anorectal disorders are often perceived in surgery practice and often reside with pain with shifting vigour. Endeavour has been made to lessen pain and avoid ligature. Minuscule hospital stay with early return to work is the main aim of developing newer techniques in the management of anorectal diseases. Diverse modalities with the main tensity on surgical interceding for managing more common anorectal disorders are...

The presentation of this work aims to update readers on issues associated with coating pan (CPN), having applicability in the pharmaceutical field. The coating process (CPR) is an important pharmaceutical unit operation that finds pertinence in various product areas extending from conventional (immediate) release to modified release. The CPR involves the substrate coating by spraying the coating material in liquid medium onto them, kept in motion using either CPN or fluid bed processor (FBP). The FBP is used preferably for coating of multi-particulates and powders and rarely for tablets, while CPNs are used for coating tablets and capsules, thus are in extensive use. Conventional CPNs and perforated coating pan (PPN) are the major categories of the CPNs. The PPNs are preferred for the products that call for improved drying efficiency where the drying efficiency of the drying air (DA) is highest. The perforated pan system (PPNSY) is used in the coating system based on the aqueous solvent, with preference to that based on the volatile organic solvent (VOS). Comprehensive...

Objectives: Along with increasing availability and utilization of contraception, it is also important to confirm that the effects of contraception use on resumption of fertility after discontinuation and serious adverse effects produced by synthetic steroidal contraceptives remained a major problem. However, current evidence on resumption of fertility after contraception use is inconclusive, and practically fertility after termination of contraception remains a big concern for women who are using contraception. This fear poses a negative impact on utilization and continuation of contraception. Therefore, the development of new fertility regulating drug from medicinal plants is an attractive proposition. So available reports and identifying the associating factors are important for designing a strategy to overcome the problem. Methods: The review is conducted through a systematic literature search of research articles. Few bibliographic databases and libraries: Pub Med/Medline, Global Health Database, Science direct, Embase, the Cochrane Library were used. Results: The review of different database studies that enrolled profiles of various medicinal plants used for contraception was analyzed. Conclusion and Recommendation: Contraceptive use,...

Nanoemulsions have garnered a lot of interest in recent decades as a result of their unique characteristics. These carriers are optically transparent, non-equilibrium, thermodynamically stable dispersion of nano-sized particles. Nanoemulsions possess great potential for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and other application areas ranging from the Oil to the food industry. Incorporating nanotechnology into cosmetic formulations is the newest and most cutting-edge technology accessible. With the ability for excellent dispersion of active substances, merging textures, and controlled delivery into the desired layers of skin, nanoemulsions are becoming increasingly popular in skincare products. Advantages of nanoemulsion over cosmetic technologies (such as liposomes, emulsions and microemulsions) include ease of manufacture, adjustable particle sizes, excellent kinetic stability, and low surfactant levels, as well as market benefits like the ability to be manufactured in a variety of forms, such as spray, foam, liquid and cream have accelerated their use. The fundamental objective of this review is to systematically discuss the components, properties, and capabilities of nanoemulsions as final application products for skincare and other cosmeceutical applications as well as...
