The article focuses on the prevalence of obesity in India, increasing levels of childhood obesity, and the potential health hazards that result from obesity, thereby suggesting the necessary preventive measures and the prevailing natural and synthetic therapy that can help to cure the disease, thus spreading awareness about its severity and necessity for treatment. Obesity in India has reached epidemic proportions in the 21st century, with morbid obesity affecting 5% of the country’s population. About 3.4 million people die each year due to overweight and obesity. The numbers are only worsening with each passing year. Anti-obesity medication or weight loss drugs are pharmacological agents that reduce or control weight. These drugs alter one of the fundamental processes of the human body, weight regulation, by altering either appetite or absorption of calories. Thus proper preventive measures and medication can help in reducing the extent of the disease...

Silica lipid-hybrid formulations have gained an increased interest in recent times as a means to enhance the solubility as well as dissolution of poorly water-soluble lipophilic drugs. The objective of the present investigation was to design and optimize silica lipid hybrid particles of Canagliflozin to improve its solubility. Canagliflozin is an antidiabetic drug used to improve glycaemic control in people with type 2 diabetes. In this study, we have fabricated a Solid-State Lipid-Based Oral Drug Delivery System as CNZ SLH with liquid lipids like Miglyol 812, Labrasol and Acrysol el 135. Sylloid 244 FP grade highly porous silica was used as adsorbent. The interaction of CNZ-SLH particles was studied using X-ray powder diffraction (PXRD), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and FTIR spectroscopy. CNZ-SLH particles prepared with Miglyol and Labrasol enhanced the solubility of CNZ by 19.67 fold. Optimized SLH particles formulated as a tablet shows faster drug release than the marketed formulation of CNZ Invokana. Silica lipid hybrid particles can be a cost-effective method to formulate drugs with poor...

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism characterized by increased fasting and post prandial blood sugar levels. Diabetes is the most common cause of progressive kidney failure leading to dialysis or transplantation. Nephropathy is reported to develop in 30-40% of patients with diabetes and has become a leading cause of end-stage renal failure worldwide. The various parts of Euphorbia antiquorum have been associated with a number of pharmacological activities which are cytotoxic, hepato-protective and antioxidant. The juice of the plant is acrid, anti-inflammatory, purgative and is useful in rheumatism, dropsy, gout, neuropathy, deafness, cough. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of Euphorbia antiquorum on alloxan induced diabetic nephropathy in Wistar rats. Experimental diabetic nephropathy was induced by a single intraperitoneal (i.p) administration of alloxan 120 mg/kg body weight (b.w.). Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal control, diabetic control, diabetic control with standard drug and diabetic treated with ethanolic extract of Euphorbia antiquorum at 200 and 400 mg/kg doses respectively. The...

Sufficient fluid solvency has been one in everything about required properties while choosing drug particles and completely uncommon bio-actives for advancement. Here and there dissolvability of a medication decides its pharmaceutical and remedial execution. Most of these days organized medicine IOTAS miss the mark or are rejected for the length of the main times of drug disclosure and improvement on account of the truth of their obliged dissolvability. Test consistency, liquid dissolvability, and manufactured equality of the prescription are central for touching base at enough bioavailability and supportive outcome. Dendrimers, an alternate class of polymers, have the decent potential for medication solvency improvement, by temperance of their unmistakable properties. These hyper-stretched, mono-scattered particles have the particular capacity to tie the medication atoms on fringe still to typify these particles among the fiber structure. There are differed reportable investigations that have effectively utilized dendrimers to flavor up the solubilization of inadequately solvent prescription. These promising results have intrigued the analysts to vogue, orchestrate, and evaluate fluctuated fiber polymers for his...

A new analytical method has been developed for the simultaneous estimation of Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide in their pure and pharmaceutical dosage forms by using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy. This method involves the extraction of Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide from tablets using chloroform and direct measurement in liquid phase mode using reduced path length cell. The spectra were measured in absorbance mode, equipment was configured to collect spectra at 8 cm-1 resolution, and the spectra were collected between 4000 cm-1 and 450 cm-1. The infrared spectra showed different peaks with baseline correction, among which intense, clear and proportionate peaks were selected at 3411 cm-1, and 1309 cm-1 corresponding to the N-H group and asymmetric SO2 group for Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide respectively for quantitative estimation. Beer-Lambert’s law was obeyed over the concentration range of 50-250 μg/ml for Telmisartan and 25-125 μg/ml for Hydrochlorothiazide. All the results were found to be within the limits. The results obtained were compared statistically with that of HPLC by t-test, which indicated no significant difference between...
