Predicting ICU patient’s mortality is an important area of research to assist the clinical staff in decision-making, and subsequently make more exact strategies in recognizing high mortality risk patients. Handling huge clinical data is still a challenge. These data have different issues such as high dimensions, many missing values, imbalanced data, time-series and data recorded irregularly. This paper mainly focuses on developing four different deep learning models: deep neural network (DNN), deep long-short term memory (DLSTM), deep bidirectional long-short term memory (DBLSTM) and deep gated recurrent unit (DGRU) using two standard datasets, the Physionet challenge 2012 and WiDS datathon 2020 to predict the ICU patients mortality. During the simulation study, missing values are handled using k-NN imputation in Physionet and mean imputation in WiDSdatathon, then balancing of the data is done by employing synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE), cost sensitive learning (CSL) and generative adversarial network (GAN). Feature extraction is done by using discrete wavelet transform (DWT) in WiDS datathon. From the simulation study, it is demonstrated that the...

This work aimed to develop and evaluate fast dissolving strip of Midodrine hydrochloride to overcome the conventional dosage form’s limitations and enhance dissolution rate, fast onset of action and improved patient compliance. Various batches of the mouth-dissolving film were prepared by using various grades of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) polymer and plasticizers such as Polyethylene Glycol 200, Polyethylene Glycol 400, Polyethylene Glycol 600 and Glycerin, used for the preparation of film by solvent casting method. The estimation was carried out using phosphate buffer pH 6.8 as a solvent using a double-beam spectrophotometer at 289nm. FTIR and DSC studies showed no interaction between drugs, polymers, or other additives. The prepared film was evaluated for transparency and surface texture, thickness, tensile strength, folding endurance, disintegration time, drug content, uniformity and in-vitro drug release study. Midodrine hydrochloride mouth dissolving film was prepared successfully by solvent casting method and that might be an alternative route of drug delivery system of conventional dosage forms with many...

Background: Escherichia coli (E. coli) is one of the most common agents of bacterial infections, the emergence of multidrug resistance in E. coli has posed major threat to global health resulting in failure of treatment that leads to increased mortality and cost of healthcare facilities. Material and Methods: For this study, a total of 500 specimens like urine, blood, pus, stool, sputum and different body fluids received in the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory were processed and inoculated on culture plates (Blood agar, MacConkey agar, Cysteine Lactose Electrolyte Deficient Agar) and incubated at 37°C for 18-24 hours. After identification, E. coli was processed for Antibiotic susceptibility testing on Muller Hinton Agar using Kirby Baeur disk diffusion method. E. coli ATCC 25922 was used as reference strain. Results: Of 500 specimens received in clinical laboratory from different age groups, 180 were culture positive, of which 88 were E. coli isolates. 48(54.5%) E. coli isolates were obtained from female patients while 40(45.5%) were from male patients. Isolation of E. coli was highest in...

The genus Ocimum, a member of the Lamiaceae family. Ocimum species are mostly composed of phenolics, tannins, saponins, flavonoids, volatile oils, etc. We have investigated into the antioxidant activity and total phenolics of the two species of Ocimum basilicum and Ocimum sanctum since they all have therapeutic characteristics. The results were compared to those of other common antioxidants like ascorbic acid and gallic acid. DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) radical, superoxide radical, hydroxyl radical, and lipid peroxidation can all be scavenged. These two plants’ leaves were extracted using an ethanol solvent. By Soxhlation, the ethanolic extract was obtained. Several concentrations (ranging from 50g to 500g) were employed in this investigation. The maximum percentage activity of DPPH (76.67%), Superoxide radical (60.72%), Hydroxyl radical (57.97%), and Lipid peroxidation (66.61%) were found at the 500 g concentration. Ocimum basilicum demonstrated greater percent inhibitory activity than Ocimum sanctum among these radicals evaluated on the two species. Ocimum basilicum was recommended, however, both Ocimum species had the highest IC50...

Chronic joint inflammation is a hallmark of the systemic inflammatory illness known as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which eventually causes severe disability and early death. RA may impact any joint in the body. However, it mostly impacts the wrist and knee joints’ proximal interphalangeal, metacarpophalangeal and metatarsophalangeal joints. Around 1% of people worldwide are affected by it and women are 2-3 times more likely to be affected than males. Preclinical RA, genetic influences and environmental influences all have a role in the etiology of the illness. Since there is no recognized therapy for RA, achieving the lowest disease activity and, if possible, recovery remains the key goals of care. This review summarizes the research on the many RA therapy options, their mechanisms of action, side effects and novel drug delivery systems currently being used for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These delivery methods are discovered to be non-toxic, physiologically selective, compatible with cells and tissues and safe even at larger doses. The current study compares and contrasts numerous unique drug delivery...
