Background: The unprecedented overuse and illogical prescribing of antibiotics for various illnesses has accelerated the evolution of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, which has contributed to the resurgence of pathogenic strains with strengthened resistance to conventional therapies. Rising resistance has threatened human health and increased the expense of treating diseases, compromising the treatment procedure for a wide range of antibiotics. Microbes are diversifying quickly due to rapid evolution, which makes it difficult to develop management strategies. This favours the use of plant-derived antimicrobials obtained from medicinal plants to treat diseases. Over the last two decades, an abundance of plant-derived antimicrobials with a wide spectrum of activity against numerous pathogens that cause human infections have been discovered via extensive research. There are various compounds with active components that have been found and are marketed. They have great antibacterial power and can be utilised as antibiotic resistance modifiers or antimicrobials. The current study focuses on the characteristics of plant antimicrobials, their mechanisms of action in combating the rise in microbial resistance, and, in particular,...

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a hyper-androgenic disorder that is associated with ovaries that produce an abnormal amount of androgens, male sex hormones that are usually present in small amounts in 5-10% of women at 18-44 years of age women. The numerous small cysts (fluid-filled sacs) form in ovaries in small undeveloped follicles. The chemical-based drugs induce the ovulatory cycle instead of allowing it to restore its original healthy rhythm. This hormone imbalance causes their body to skip menstrual periods, making it harder for them to get pregnant. Many allopathic medications are used for PCOS but also have some side effects. To overcome the adverse impact of chemicals on the body, herbal formulations are preferred. This study explores the efficacy of herbs as a possible therapeutic agent in preventing and managing polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The benefit of herbal therapy compared to conventional therapy is that herbal therapy is safe with lesser side effects, and the presence of multiple active compounds in medicinal herbs provides a potentiating...

Paederia foetida is one of the lesser-studied plants that has been utilized as food and medicine by several ethnic groups against stomach pain, bowel disease, snake bite, bone fractures burns, or scalding. Scientific research revealed that the plant exhibits extensive pharmacological activity, including antidiarrheal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, antiemetic, antioxidant and anti-rheumatoid. Based on the online poll results, information was acquired about P. foetida’s transition from traditional use to scientific validation. Moreover, qualitative and quantitative phytochemical analysis of the plant indicates the presence of 36 important chemical constituents such as; methyl-mercaptan, phenolic, high percentage of minerals, urosolic acid, β-sitosterol, oleanolic acid, arachidic acid. The different phytoconstituents of the plant justify the ethno-medicinal and pharmacological application of the plant. In conclusion, the results of this analysis will produce a new, safe, and low-cost therapeutic strategy for identify and isolate novel chemical entities in drug discovery. Additionally, it may aid in separating fresh lead compounds for future clinical study research. This plant could be an excellent source of safe and effective medicinal...

A new simple High-Performance Thin Layer Chromato-graphic (HPTLC) method for determining Paracetamol, Diclofenac and Caffeine in combined tablet dosage form has been developed and validated. The mobile phase selected was Ethyl acetate: Methanol: ammonia (8: 2:0.1 v/v/v) with UV detection at 263 nm. The retention factor for Paracetamol, Diclofenac, and caffeine was found to be 0.639 ± 0.018, 0.267 ± 0.026, and 0.447 ± 0.026, respectively. The method was validated with respect to linearity, accuracy, precision and robustness as per the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines. Results were found to be linear in the concentration range of 1000-6000 ng/band for Paracetamol 200-1200 ng/band for Diclofenac and 100-600 ng/band for caffeine, respectively. The method has been successfully applied to analyze drugs in pharmaceutical formulation. The % assay (Mean ± S.D.) was found to be 98.64 ± 0.184 for paracetamol, 97.17± 1.074 for Diclofenac and 98.27± 0.86 caffeine. The method can be used for routine analysis of these drugs in combined tablet dosage forms in quality-control...

The advent of new diseases and the subsequent outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in a tremendous increase in both the production and consumption of antibiotics. While this has helped the economy expand, it has also led to the rise of a problem known as antibiotic resistance. Scientists and researchers worldwide are worried about the spread of antibiotic resistance among various bacterial species. Treating ailments brought on by bacteria resistant to antibiotics is possible through phage treatment. Although phage therapy has shown promise in treating several diseases, it is currently hindered by several obstacles that make widespread use of the technique problematic. We analyze an online survey’s results to better understand the prevalence of antibiotic resistance and phage therapy in human practice and the benefits and downsides of utilizing phages to combat pathogenic...
