Polymer functionalised mesoporous silica nanoparticles hold great promise to enhance drug targeting and cell internalisation for cancer cells. Since the presence of abundant folate receptors on cancer cells, folic acid functionalised mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) were used as folate marker and polyethyleneimine was used to improve cell internalisation. Meloxicam was loaded into the pores of nanoparticles through –NH2 linker and polyethyleneimine-folic acid was grafted onto mesoporous silica nanoparticles. The functionalised MSN were characterised for particle size, surface charge, and elemental analysis. The release of meloxicam from the functionalised nanoparticles exhibited sustained release through membrane diffusion drug release method. Cell viability and cytotoxicity study was performed using HT-29 Human Colon cancer cell line as an in-vitro model. The results of scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy demonstrated the presence of SiO2 group and the particle size of functionalised nanoparticles to be between 200-800 nm. The zeta potential of the coated MSN exhibited positive surface charge, enhancing the targeting of negatively charged cancer cells and cell internalisation. Moreover, the cytotoxicity...

Medicinal plants continue to be an important therapeutic aid for alleviating the ailments of human kind. The plant Dalbergia sissoo contains various chemical constituent with specific value in ethno-medicinal practices and has significance in the field of health care system. The main objective of this study involves the evaluation of anti-bacterial activity of D. sissoo leaves and barks extracts of chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetone and methanol. The assay was done by bioassay guided fractionation by disc diffusion method on both Staphylococcus aureus (gram-positive) and Escherichia coli (gram-negative) bacteria using Ampicillin for S. aureus and Norfloxacin for E. coli as positive control and DMSO (Dimethyl Sulphoxide) as a negative control. The anti-bacterial activity of methanol extracts of leaves was found to be more as compared to other extracts. S. aureus was found to be more susceptible to plant extracts than E. coli. Thus, the results obtained confirm the therapeutic potency of D. sissoo used in traditional...

AUS – Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha is the traditional system of medicines in India more than 3000 years old and still practiced extensively in India and neighbouring countries. Assurance of the safety margin, potency of medicinal plants that make the herbal products has now become a key issue in industrialized with developed countries. Pharmacological studies is a science relating to the screening, assessment, interaction and prevention of adverse effects particularly long term and short term side effect of medicines. The present work was carried out at National Institute of Siddha, Sanatorium, Tambaram, Chennai, and Tamil Nadu. By keeping this idea the present vigilance on Siddha formulation was conducted in poly arthritic patients. In the clinical study totally 50 arthritic patients are included in which 25 male and 25 female patients. These patients were prescribed with Cap. RGM, Tab. KVC, Tab. KUKIL and PAIN BALM. The Siddha formulation which is prescribed for the treatment was found to be 60% of efficacious which is directly observed from the patient’s feedback form....

Among topological descriptors connectivity indices are very important and they have a prominent role in chemistry. One of them is Sanskruti index defined as , where Su is the summation of degrees of all neighbours of vertex u in G. In this chapter we compute this new topological index for TURC4C8(S)...

The reporting of medical safety data (especially medical data related to drug effectiveness and patient safety) and the supplying of the health education and general medical culture are very important issues in any society. And as we all live in one world, so, we should deal with these issues as international issues not only as local issues, and there are reasons and problems make that only a few percent of the people around the world who can participate or know about these important issues. The purpose of this research to find the main reasons of these problems, and I used a simple questionnaire to get simple answers contain nominal data to get the static analysis of the data easily, and I developed and designed a new comprehensive international database center and programs for health and medical information and drug safety data reporting that are suitable for everybody in the world with different cultures and...
