The objective of present work is to study the wound healing effect of topical lawsone gel. Topical lawsone gel was prepared by using natural and synthetic polymers in different ratios. The gel was prepared with Tara gum and HPMC K15M using dispersion method. Optimized gels were characterized for physicochemical evaluations. Optimised formulations (LT3, LT4) were evaluated for spreadability (10.6±0.02, 13.8±0.28), pH (6±0.58, 5±0.59), viscosity (18000±62.5, 18023±71.3) and drug content (94.51±0.63, 87.08±0.40). The gel was found to be homogeneous and uniform without any formation of lumps. In vitro release of optimized gel (LT3, LT4) showed control release of 81.68% and 87.47% within 7 hours. The formulation was found to follow zero order model dependent kinetics with fickian diffusion possessing a release rate of 198.3 and 202.4 µg /cm2/hr-1/2. Animal studies performed with optimized formulations (LT3, LT4) showed wound contraction of (85.30±1.56%, 99.21±1.32%) when compared to the control gel (76.61±2.15%). The period of epithelisation of LT3, LT4 formulation showed complete epithelisation on 13.4±0.45 and 14.2±0.61 days respectively, when compared to control...

The present study was designed to evaluate the protective effect of omega-3 against β-cyfluthrin (β-cyf)-induced neurotransmitters’ impairment, oxidative damage, testicular toxicity and genotoxicity. Adult male Wistar rats were divided equally into four groups: Group (I): Control, Group (II): β-cyf (5 mg/kg body weight/day), Group (III): omega-3 (400 mg/kg body weight/da y) + β-cyf (5 mg/kg body weight/day), Group (IV): omega-3 (400 mg/kg body weight/day). β-cyf’s treatment for 8 weeks inhibited the activities of AChE, DA, LDH, total ATPase and Na+/K+ATPase. Also, β-cyf resulted in an increase in oxidative stress as indicated by elevations in the levels of MDA and NO while, the levels of TAC, thiol content and TP were decreased in brain and testis. Sperm count, sperm motility and testosterone levels were reduced while, sperm abnormalities, FSH and LH levels were increased in β-cyf-treated group. Also, β-cyf administration led to a significant increase in TNFα, IL-6 and APP mRNA expressions. In addition, β-cyf caused histopathological alterations in brain and testis. The present results showed that omega-3 could improve...

Acid amine coupling of 1H-indol-6-yl(piperazin-1-yl) methanone with different acids has been synthesized in presence of HATU reagent, DIPEA base with DMF solvent at 45 °C 30 mins to yield Indole piperzine derivatives 3a-j. The structures of all the synthesized compounds have been characterised by elemental analysis and spectral studies like 1H-NMR and LCMS. Some selected Indole piperazine derivatives have been tested for antimicrobial activity using by Disc diffusion method and in vitro antioxidant activity using DPPH Assay method. Three compounds 3a, 3f and 3h have shown significant antimicrobial and one compound 3b have shown in vitro antioxidant...

The present investigation revealed the phytochemical constituent, antioxidant potential and correlation between antioxidant activities with total phenol and flavonoid contents of fruit extracts of Pyrus pyrifolia and Prunus domestica from local Himalayan region of Himachal Pradesh, India. The total phenolic content was estimated by using Folin-Ciocalteu reagent method, whereas, flavonoid content was quantified using aluminium chloride method. The antioxidant activity was evaluated by using DPPH, FRAP and Nitric oxide (NO) scavenging assay. The total phenolic content was found to be 159.86±2.91 and 145.56±2.43 µg/ml gallic acid equivalents. Similarly, flavonoid content was 48.69±1.90 and 284.27±2.16 µg/ml rutin equivalents for P. pyrifolia and P. domestica, respectively. The antioxidant activity values of DPPH scavenging for fruit extract were found to be (IC50-17.37 and 9.47 µl/ml), FRAP activity values were (IC50– 15.51 and 6.13 µM Fe (II) equivalents) and Nitric oxide scavenging values were (IC50– 21.49 and 30.11 µl/ml) for P. pyrifolia and P. domestica respectively. The investigation revealed significant correlation between total phenolic and flavonoid contents with antioxidant activities of fruit extracts....

Ascidians are rich source of novel bioactive agents as potential source of therapeutic drugs. Evaluation of antioxidant potential of ascidians, Eudistoma viride and Didemnum psammathodes extracts was undertaken. In DPPH radical scavenging assay E. viride II showed 34% to 93% scavenging activity and D. psammathodes II showed 45% to 96% scavenging activity in different ascidian concentrations. In reducing power assay the ascidian fraction E. viride II and D. psammathodes II showed 2.3 and 2.23 reducing power in 100µgmL-1. In Hydroxyl (OH) radicals scavenging activities the ascidian E. viride II and D. psammathodes II showed high radical scavenging activity 96% and 98% at 100 µgmL-1 concentration. In H2O2 scavenging assay the ascidians fractions E. viride II and D. psammathodes II showed 78% and 89% of at 100µgmL-1 concentration. In nitric oxide radical scavenging activity, the ascidians fractions E. viride II showed 64% at 100µgmL-1 and D. psammathodes II showed 72% at 100µgmL-1 concentration. The finding throws light on the higher efficiency of scavenging activity of natural products improved to synthetic...
