MARSDENIA TENACISSMA: A REVIEW ON ITS TAXONOMY & ITS MEDICINAL APPLICATION
AbstractMarsdenia tenacissima (MT), a traditional herbal medicine (Family Asclepiadaceae), during the past several years, there has been increasing interest in the uses of various medicinal plants from the traditional system of medicine for the treatment of different ailments. The present review highlights the pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, and pharmacological study of Marsdenia tenacissima. In this, pharmacognostical studies are concerned with the determination of physicochemical constants like ash value, extractive value, pH, and loss on drying. It is used in various pharmacological activities like anti-cancer, anti-diarrheal, anti-inflammatory, Analgesic, Antioxidant, Antidiabetic, Antihyperlipidemic, and Anti-arthritic activities. Marsdenia tenacissima has been used in traditional medicine as a household remedy for various diseases.
