The endophytic fungi isolated from the medicinal plant are an essential part of the current drug discovery from natural products. The endophytic fungus isolated from the healthy leaves of Psidium guajava was identified based on microscopic and cultural characteristics. The phylogenetic analysis inferred based on the internal transcribed spacer rRNA region sequence showed close similarity to Fusarium oxysporum. The secondary metabolite produced in solid-state, and submerged fermentation was extracted using ethyl acetate and acetone. The antimicrobial activity of the crude extract was screened by the agar well diffusion method. The inhibitory effect of the extract against bacterial pathogens was evaluated by minimum bactericidal concentration MBC and microdilution MIC methods. The antibacterial activity of the crude extract is significant at p<0.05 level. The extract presented a broad spectrum of inhibition against all the tested bacteria with inhibition zone diameter from 6.67 ± 0.58 mm to 22.00 ± 1.00 mm. The extract showed strong antimicrobial activity with MIC value from 0.156 mg/ml to 5.0 mg/ml and the MBC from 0.625 mg/ml...

The mitogenic activity in earthworms should be accompanied by antioxidative and antimicrobial activities during the healing or regeneration of their amputated part. These activities are achieved by bioactive macromolecules in their tissue and coelomic fluid. The antioxidative activity applied to prevent the cellular function from oxidative damage and assist cell multiplication. The antimicrobial activity prevents the wounded area from bacterial infection and enhances cell division. This review aims to promote cheap natural products of earthworms to be used widely in human medicine. Thus, we reviewed how to extract coelomic fluid, preparation of tissue homogenate (G-90) and application of mitogenic, antioxidative, antimicrobial activities on experimental animal rats, mice and rabbits. These products were efficient for hasty wound healing, the proliferation of damaged bone, boosting of immune cells and nerve cell regeneration without carcinogenic and mutagenic characteristics. Therefore, the biotechnological application of tissue homogenates and coelomic fluid should get due...

Herbal medicine plays an important role in rural areas, and various locally produced drugs are still being used as household remedies for different ailments. Acalypha hispida (Euphorbiaceae) is a plant popularly used in pharmaceutical used and as a commercial product. Hence, the need to explore the potential of this plant, especially in the area of traditional medicine and pharmaceutical industries, arises. The present study was designed to evaluate the phytochemical composition, antimicrobial and radical-scavenging activities of methanol and ethanol extracts of leaf and flower of A. hispida. Phytochemical screening showed that phenol, tannin, alkaloid, and flavonoid are present in methanol extract of a leaf. In ethanol extract of leaves, tannin, alkaloid, and flavonoid are present. In the methanol extract of flower, phenol, tannin, and carbohydrate are present, and phenol, tannin, alkaloid, and flavanoid are present in the ethanol extract of the flower. The organisms used for the antibacterial properties assessment were E. coli, Candida albicans, B. cereus, and Salmonella typhi. In antimicrobial activity, the desired concentrations were 2.5%, 1.25%,...

Black tea, the most widely consumed aromatic non-alcoholic beverage second to water, is prepared by boiling cured leaves of Camellia sinensis. It is reported that black tea contains plenty of bioactive constituents, including complex polyphenols like theaflavins (TF2A, TF2B, TF3) and thearubigins that exhibit a wide range of pharmacological properties and also contribute to its quality and bioactivity. The present study aims at biochemical characterization and evaluation of antimicrobial activity of Theaflavins and Flavonoids rich Extract (TFE) and their silver nanoconjugates. TFE was obtained by steeping black tea in boiling water at 90 °C for 5 min, subsequently extracted with ethyl acetate and dried for further use. The biochemical characterization of TFE was done using HPLC and other spectrophotometric methods. Next, silver nanoconjugates of the TFE were prepared using a green synthesis route, and antimicrobial property was evaluated with respect to its non-conjugated form. It was observed that the TFE is an antioxidant rich fraction and helps in metal-nanoparticle synthesis efficiently. The study highlighted that, in maximum cases, nanoconjugates...

New complexes of La (III) and Nd (III) with bidentate Schiff base ligands, 1-H indole-(2, 3-dione) hydrazinecarbothioamide (L1H), 1-H indole-(2, 3-dione) hydrazinecarboxamide (L2H) have been synthesized and characterised. The stoichiometry of the complexes is originated in the type of [Ln (L1, 2) 3].3H2O for both metals. The characterization and nature of bonding of these complexes were elucidated by elemental analysis, melting point, molecular weight determinations, electronic spectra, redox behavior, magnetic and EPR studies, IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectral studies. From an elemental analysis, the complexes are in 1:3 (metal: ligand). Whole studies propose non-electrolytic behaviour and an octahedral geometry of Ln (III) complexes. La (III) and Nd (III) metal complexes and their parent ligands tested antimicrobial potency in-vitro, and the result indicates that metal complexes are more active than parent...
