Oxalis corniculata is a perennial weed which is found in both tropical and temperate climates, it grows in damp and shaded areas throughout the Himalayas and warmer regions of India. This herb, an invasive weed has a number of valuable secondary metabolites. Numerous research has demonstrated the advantages of Oxalis corniculata leaf extract. Its metabolite profile, phytochemical analysis and therapeutic potential of its leaf extract are reviewed. To find diverse research relating to the utilization of this plant extract, a bibliographic search was done. Known bioactive compounds include oleic, linolenic, linoleic, stearic and palmitic acids, tannins, volatile oil, proteins, amino acids, phenolic compounds, phytosterols, flavonoids and carbohydrates. Several reports have revealed that it is considered as a weed, yet leaf extract has a wide range of benefits because of its pharmacological actions. Introduction: Oxalis corniculata (Family: Oxalidaceae) is a delicate therapeutic herb found in warm temperate tropical areas of India and Pakistan, while Portulaca oleracea (Family: Portulacaceae) thrives in sultry, equatorial regions and has origins in South America and Africa. This study aims to develop and assess a topical poly-herbal gel containing leaf extracts of Oxalis corniculata and Portulaca oleracea. Materials and Methods: The plant material was collected, and shade dried before being powdered. The powder was soaked and macerated in methanol, followed by extraction using Soxhlet method. Phytochemical tests were conducted qualitatively. Gel formulations were prepared and the appearance, homogeneity, pH, and viscosity of the formulations were determined. Antimicrobial activity was evaluated. Antioxidant potential was analyzed through the DPPH scavenging assay. Additionally, in-vitro toxicity of formulations was assessed using the MTT assay to determine their compatibility with normal cells. Kaempferia parviflora Wall. Ex Baker is commonly known as ‘black ginger’ which belongs to the family Zingiberaceae. These are mostly found in the subtropical and tropical areas of Asia. The main aim of the present study is to isolate and identify potent actinobacteria from mangrove sediments of SPSR Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh, India along with their antimicrobial activity. The samples collected were initially pretreated with calcium carbonate followed by dry heating. Dilution plate technique was employed to isolate actinobacteria employing two selective media viz. yeast extract malt extract dextrose agar (YMD) and starch casein agar (SCA) amended with NaCl (4%). The media were supplemented with streptomycin (25μg/mL) and nystatin (25μg/mL) to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. Over all 10 strains (VLKK-1 to VLKK-10) were isolated and screened for antimicrobial activity. The potent strain was identified as Streptomyces carpaticus (Gen bank accession number: OR144182) by polyphasic taxonomy including morphological, cultural, physiological and biochemical characters along with 16S rRNA analysis. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) emerged as a major challenge to public health and significantly impacting the global economy. Infections due to multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacteria are difficult to treat and cause financial burden on patients. Environment may serve as a genetic pool of several drug resistant genes and help bacteria to emerge as notorious superbugs. This study aimed to characterize MDR bacterial isolates from environmental samples and comparative analysis of MDR and multi-drug sensitive (MDS) strains for the expression of virulence factors. Twenty six (n=26) different environmental samples (water, soil, air and surface) were collected for the purpose. The antimicrobial susceptibility testing performed using 12 antibiotics belongs to six different antibiotic classes. The potential virulence factors were determined among MDR and MDS isolates.
