Leucas aspera species, auspicious in many cultures worldwide, are sources of novel bioactive secondary metabolites. The mechanism by which they exhibit therapeutic potential via antioxidant, antimicrobial and apoptotic properties is scant. The main objective of the current study was to evaluate the properties of activity-guided fractionated root methanol extract. As the methanol extract exhibited the highest antioxidant activity, it was evaluated for secondary metabolites and therapeutic properties UPLC-MS analysis of the extract identified the 15 and five secondary metabolites including oleanolic acid, 6-C-glucosyl- 8- C- arabinosylapigenin, 6- C-arabinosyl 8- C-glycosylapigenin, neohesperidin and beta-sitosterol were reported. Anti-bacterial activity by disc diffusion inhibited human pathogenic bacteria. Bacterial bio-film inhibition capacity of extract (750 µg) imaged by Confocal laser scanning microscopy revealed loss of microcolonies. Further, it quenched free radicals produced by Fentons’ reagent studied by DNS-nicking assay, indicating its strong antioxidant property. The MTT assay results identified maximum cell death for human breast cancer cells, MCF-7 (EC50, 60.31±2.71 mg/mL-1). CLSM visualized a clear indication of apoptosis via chromatin condensation. The presence...

Aim of study: A Randomized controlled trial was planned to evaluate the Clinical efficacy of Nidigdhikadileha an Ayurveda multi-dimensional herb preparation in children suffering from Recurrent Respiratory tract infection in children. Nidigdhikadileha contains Nidigdhika (Solanum Xanthocarpum), Pippali (Piper longum), Amrita (Tinospora cardifolia), and Nagar (Zingiber officinale). All these drugs have been described to have anti-tussive and antimicrobial properties. Material & methods: A total of 90 children, including male and female children, were studied for complaining of Recurrent Upper Respiratory Tract infections and were registered and divided into 3 groups (Group A, B, C). In group A, children were administered Nidigdhikadileha, dose180-200 mg/kg/dose twice a day for 2 months in children suffering from RURTI. In group B, honey drops were administered to 30 children at a dose of 1ml/kg/day, and in Group C there is also 30 patients were administered Sitopaladi churna at a dose 100 mg/kg/day. All the treated cases were assessed at each follow-up on the 14th day, 28th day, 42nd day, and 56th day, and post-follow-up was...

Urochloa distachya (Poaceae), commonly known as Signal grass 20-60 cm long found in tropical Asian origin, Africa, and other countries. Generally, it has been used in fodder, animal feed etc., and least and no therapeutic activities were reported. The present study was established to identify the phytochemicals by using GC-MS of the U. distachya leaves part. The leaves part of the plant was extracted in methanol by using the Soxhlet apparatus. The GC-MS Methanolic extract of U. distachya identified 26 phytocomponents; Z-7-Pentadecenol; t-Butyl hydrogen phthalate, Ricinoleic acid; Methyl -12-hydroxy-9-octadecenoate; Octadecanoic acid; Glycerin; 4, 6-Diphenyl-2-(2-hydroxyphenyl) pyrimidine, Eicosanoid acid, methyl ester, 2-Naphthalenol 2, 3, 4, 4a, 5, 6, 7-octahydro1, 4adimethyl-7-(2-hydroxy-1-methylethyl); Cholest-5-en-3-ol (3á), tetradecanoate; 6-Octadecenoic Acid; Oleic acid, 3-hydroxypropyl ester; Octadecanoic acid, 2, 3-dihydroxypropyl ester; Eicosane; Tert-Hexadecanethiol; 2-[4-methyl-6-(2, 6, 6-trimethylcyclohex-1-enyl) hexa-1, 3, 5-trienyl] cyclohex1en-1-carboxaldehyde; Spiro [4.5] decan-7-one, 1, 8-dimethyl-8, 9-epoxy-4-isopropyl; 9, 12, 15-Octadecatrienoic acid, 2, 3-bis [(trimethylsilyl) oxy] propyl ester, (Z, Z, Z). The phytoconstituents of methanolic extract of U. distachya has shown remarkable activities like antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anticancer...
