Medicine has been a noble profession since time immemorial. Many cultures have the view that it is linked with the supernatural deity. The persons were priests in many civilizations. They had high status in Society. They were considered as a medium of communication between the supernatural and were assumed to have powers. In those times, those priests used rituals and follow some religious code of conduct for treatment. This was the primitive stage of ethics as a part of religious ritual. Latter with observations, many folk traditional medicine ethics were created in a teacher-student relationship. Further traditional medicine like Ayurveda, TCM, Korean developed, which had mutual interactions in ideology and philosophy. It was evident with the review of these studies and also had a diverse set of rules entertaining behavioral and professional codes for prescriber health care worker and patient for providing rational and safe delivery of health services. However, with the separation of medical science from religion, the positive philosophical background and the behavioral element lost its ground....

In the recent progressive era of pharmaceutical technology, newly investigated most of the drugs come under BCS class II and IV having low solubility as well bioavailability. The drugs are not suitable candidate for the conventional oral delivery of drug. The reason is that the drugs are not able to dissolve in aqueous environment of GI (gastrointestinal) tract. Poor water solubility of drug is challenging to deliver orally. Lipid-based drug delivery systems (LBDDS) is emerging technologies to delivered the drug orally by dissolving, dispersing or encapsulating drugs in lipidic excipient and ultimately results in improvement in bioavailability. This review focus on different types of excipients used in the formulation of LBDDS and digestion and solubilisation of lipid-based formulation in body. This review also focuses on the conversion of liquid dispersion into solid particles of lipid for oral delivery of drug. Different types of lipid-based carriers which are useful for the development of lipid-based delivery are briefly described in this...

Discovery of New Chemical Entities (NCEs) is the result of a series of high throughput screening process after the successful design and synthesis scheme. The indole nucleus is an important heterocyclic compound containing nitrogen, and it has been a source of vital therapeutic agents. It is noteworthy in recent advances of synthetic, medicinal chemistry; the last decade has been witnessed with a multitude of reports on several indole derivatives corroborating these chemical entities to be an eminent target for the discovery of new drugs. Global research investigations published has outstanding impact attention for the scientists working on indole derivatives which transformed into various commercially approved indole candidate in the commercial market and there are several in the pipeline. This review highlighted recent achievements of indole lead molecules in biological, chemical, and pharmacological activity having diverse perspectives on how this indole moiety as a privileged structure may be browbeaten for elucidating salubrious biological...

Although serious systemic and cutaneous side effects need a novel delivery system that provides prolonged and controlled drug release, minimum systemic drug absorption with reduced side effects. Microsponge, a drug delivery system, possesses the versatility to load a wide range of active ingredients to facilitate the controlled release of active ingredients to reduce systemic exposure and to reduce side effects. Microsponges are polymeric sponges that consist of interconnecting voids with a non-flexible structure with a porous surface. Microsponge delivery technique provides extended product stability, enhanced safety, enhanced formulation flexibility, enhanced product efficacy, enhanced aesthetic appeal with reduced side effects. Therefore, this review provides an overview of microsponge technology with its methodology, mechanism, programmable release, and characterization of the microsponge delivery system. Review compiled recent data regarding marketed formulation, their applications, and the list of patents. This review also contains validation, stability guidelines, and examples of drug release profiles from microsponges. Microsponges are frequently used for topical use but recently used for oral...

“Eat to live and don’t live to eat” this is a principle to be followed for a healthy and wealthy life. According to the therapeutic point of view, the patient who suffers from peptic ulcer diseases was shown to have a reduced secreted amount of HCl and pepsin. The management of gastric and duodenal ulcers can be followed by the decreased or neutralized level of gastric acid. Peptic ulcer influences up to 10% of the all-out total populace accordingly called chronic disease. Peptic ulcer arrangement relies on the lessening in the mucosal guards and on the nearness of the gastric juice pH. The two central points which disturb the mucosal protection from damage is the Helicobactor pylori (H. pylori) contamination and Non-steroidal calming drugs (NSAIDs). The valuable medicines of peptic ulcer are Proton pump inhibitors, Histamine-2 (H2) receptor antagonists, Antacids, Anticholinergics, Mucosal defensive agents, Bismuth compounds, Antimicrobial agents, and cholecystokinin-2-receptor antagonists drugs. The review contains the detailed study of H2 receptor antagonist drugs used as anti ulcers and the...
