The gastroretentive drug delivery system has been utilized to obtain prolonged and uniform release of drug in stomach. Thus increase bioavailability and decrease the administration frequency. A peptic ulcer is a break in the lining of the stomach, esophagus or duodenum. Peptic ulcer may be due to H. Pylori bacteria, acid of the stomach cell or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS). The gastroretentive drug delivery system may be single unit (floating tablet) or multiunit system (floating microspheres). The single unit floating system is more popular but has the disadvantage that its purpose would not be achieved if it fails to float or rapidly emptied from stomach. The multiunit floating system may be better because they reduce inter subject variability in absorption and also lower the probability of dose dumping. Thus, the purpose of preparing multiunit dosage form is to be developing suitable formulation and has all the advantage of a single unit dosage form and also devoid of disadvantage of single unit...

Population control is a significant issue worldwide especially in developing countries like India. Population breakout has responsible for various deleterious effects on life surviving resources on the earth. Therefore fertility regulation is necessary for the conservation of life supporting resources as well as good reproductive life of both males and females. Various chemical methods of contraception are available today but these methods possess several side effects. Herbal medicinal plants have been used as safe alternatives of the chemical methods. Evaluation of the herbal medicinal plants has been in progress for several decades to identify effective and safe substances for fertility regulation. Several medicinal plant extract were investigated for their antifertility activity both in male and female animal models. This review covered scientific proven information on various medicinal plants used for antifertility activity in both males and females. This review provides information on botanical name along with their common name, antifertility activity, part used and their phytochemicals present in...

Synthesis of heterocylic compound has always drawn the attention of chemist over the years mainly because of their important biological properties. Particularly, the role of β–lactam which are endowed with unique structure and potent biological activity. The β-lactam heterocycles are considered as an important contribution of science to humanity since they have been constituents of living organisms, natural products, drugs and many more substances useful to mankind and society in all walks of life. Their synthesis and evaluation has always drawn the attention of biologists over the years. β-lactam, a four member heterocyclic compound involved in research aimed to evaluate new products that possess interesting biological activities. Natural and synthetic β-lactam derivatives occupy a central place among medicinally important compounds due to their diverse and interesting antibiotic activities and are still the most prescribed antibiotics used in medicine. The present review article focuses on the pharmacological profile of β-lactam with their potential activities. The ring system exhibits a wide range of activities like antimicrobial, antitubercular, anticancer, antidiabetic, tryptase and...

Lovastatin is a naturally occurring drug of statin family used for lowering cholesterol. It is found that it can be useful for treatment or management of multiple diseases and has immense medicinal significance. On one side, this drug is used to induce apoptosis in various cancer cells, while other reports indicate that it also promotes cell survival to alleviate certain disease conditions. Antiviral role of lovastatin has also been reported. So, lovastatin, if recommended for any therapy, first requires thorough study as well as experimentations both in-vitro and in-vivo. Current review is systematic, based on search from PubMed by entering key words “Lovastatin cancer, Lovastatin apoptosis and Lovastatin survival” with filter for seven years (2008-2014) data only. It is concluded from the study that Lovastatin has multidirectional role and may be helpful in cancer cells apoptosis as well as survival of certain types of cells. It may be used as anti-viral agent...
