India is the peninsula of the herbal hub, in which the ayurvedic system of medicine has flourished as enlightenment in the field of medicine. Plants had played a vital role since ancient times when people used plant derivatives as a source of the drug. Currently, some spices and medicinal plants have become the preponderant source of drug discovery in research for treating diverse forms of the disease, including cancer, due to having anticancer, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties. Several spices and medicinal plants are potential sources for the forestallment and treatment of varied diseases, which contains several important bioactive compounds and phytochemical properties. Antioxidant activity can be arrested by flavonoids, tannins, phenolic acids, carotenoids, etc., depending on their physical structure. But in plants, Polyphenols are the most abundant antioxidant having a splendid ability to capture oxidative free radicals. The present study favours detailed wisdom on the antioxidant activities of nearly 80 different Indian medicinal plants in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu which would be more beneficial for further research to develop...

In hospitals, blood transfusions are a common occurrence. Because blood-related products are limited and have a range of adverse side effects, researchers have worked on artificial blood components for nearly 40 years. It is crucial to develop effective and selective alternatives for natural blood products. Artificial blood is a useful idea in transfusion medicine wherein clearly defined compounds perform the functions of oxygen transport and distribution in the body to enhance allogeneic human blood transfusion. Several molecules are created over a long period of time to achieve this goal, and ongoing modifications are performed in the pursuit of the ideal blood substitute. Currently, perfluorocarbons (PFC) or haemoglobin derived from outdated human/bovine blood (Hemoglobin Based Oxygen Carriers; HBOC) are used to manufacture artificial blood. The focus of this review paper is to provide a comprehensive view of different developed products that can be used as blood...

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia. It is related to increased stroke, heart failure, and hospital admission. Therefore, this systematic review was conducted to compare the effectiveness of calcium channel blockers (CCB) with beta-blockers (BB) for acute rate control of AF in the emergency department. Methods: We systematically retrieved articles written in English until December 2018 G.C. from the following databases: Embase, PubMed/Medline, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. A preferred reporting item for systematic reviews and meta-analysis (PRISMA) protocol was used. Result: Out of eight hundred two studies, three studies met our inclusion criteria with sufficient data. These studies were randomized double-blinded (n=152), comparing CCB with BB. The systemic review revealed that diltiazem was highly effective in reducing ventricular rate compared to metoprolol at each time interval (SMD=-0.78; 95%CI: -1.21 to -0.35). Adverse events were rare and similar, but calcium channel blockers reduced arrhythmia-related symptoms. Conclusion: There were insufficient data and a paucity of controlled clinical trial data. A well-designed and high-quality randomized...

Citrus fruits are known for their nutritiousness. Role of vitamins and minerals play a major role in citrus fruits during plant-pathogen interactions. These fruits are the supreme fruit crops which contain flavonoids and phenolic compounds. These molecules benefit individuals who are all consuming and play an important role in fruit ripening and development. Mainly these molecules act as antioxidants to eliminate free radicals formed during fruit development. Primary metabolism is the same in citrus as it estimates the flow of carbon in fruits. In this review, we discuss a few antioxidant molecules that have an additional role in the fruit development. These molecules are vitamins, phenolic compounds and terpenoids, mostly except vitamins; all the compounds are found in an actual form where vitamins A, C, E are available in the form of beta Carotenes, ascorbic acid or ascorbate and tocopherols in plants. Phenolic acids and coumarins are rich in citrus fruits and are powerful due to their hydroxyl groups. Limonoids are a terpenoid molecule mostly seen in the seeds,...

Aim and Objective: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, caused by the coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome, is the world’s most serious health issue. COVID-19 is currently without a precise and successful antiviral treatment. Phytochemicals provide a ray of hope for public well-being amid the pandemic, and much study is being done on them. Materials and Methods: Cinchona bark contains phytochemicals that have been used as antiviral agents against various viruses because they can suppress various viruses via various mechanisms of direct inhibition at the viral entry point and replication stages via immunomodulation potentials. Cinchona bark and its components have also been shown to have promising antiviral properties against SARS-CoV-2, according to recent data. This narrative analysis summarizes cinchona phytochemical agents, their mechanisms of action, and possible antiviral behaviours against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Results and Discussion: Medicinal plants and their extracts and herbs have shown positive results in combating SARS-CoV-2 infection and could help treat COVID-19 patients as alternatives to care under phytotherapy approaches during this...
