COVID-19, caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome CoV-2 (SARS CoV-2), has become a global burden. The naïve era of infection prompted early dependence on case reports of insufficient data and conceptual elucidation to explain and anticipate the effect on cardiovascular diseases. Many COVID-19-infected and vaccinated individuals have reported an increased incidence of cardiovascular disorders, leading to higher morbidity and mortality rates. Sometimes COVID can also manifest as a severe coronary artery disease or myocarditis in those with no background in cardiovascular diseases or those with cardiovascular risk factors, which are often misunderstood as a primary cardiovascular disorder. COVID-induced cardiovascular complications like DVT, VTE, MI, and long COVID have been the crux of the matter. To combat the SARS-CoV-2 disease, several countries took the lead in developing COVID-19 vaccines, but only a few were effective against coronavirus, which created a ray of hope in curbing COVID-19 disease. As the thumb rule says, any substance that is foreign to the body, including vaccines, has flaws seen in the forms of adverse...

Anti-diabetic medications, like insulin and glucagon-like peptide1(GLP-1) and its analogues are critical for diabetics to maintain blood glucose control. The difficulty of current insulin-based therapies for Type I & II diabetes mellitus, as well as the risks connected with fluctuations in blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia), served as the impetus for the establishment of “smart insulin” technology (glucose-responsive insulin; GRI). Insulin-dependent diabetes can be treated with glucose-responsive nanoparticles, a promising technology. The creation of nanoparticles of diverse sizes, features, and compositions allows for a variety of drug-delivery activities. When combined with a glucose measuring unit, this technology can give exogenous insulin more dependably and painlessly than conventional treatment. Nanoparticles made of polymers that are biocompatible and degradable have been created. These nanoparticles shield insulin from oxidation and make it easier for insulin to enter cells via a paracellular or transcellular pathway, whether or not they are linked to the nanoparticles. These techniques can potentially dramatically increase drug administration under controlled conditions, bioavailability, prolonged half-life, and clinical efficacy. The use...

Enzymes are biocatalysts that accelerate biotic reactions positively or negatively. Proteases are small types of enzymes that cleave peptide bonds. These proteases can be produced by microbes (fungi, bacteria, and viruses), plants, and animals. The catalytic site is only visible from the outside and is broadly dispersed on the surfaces of different cell types. Based on the position of the cleavage site in the putative substrate, these peptidases can be classified as endopeptidases or exopeptidases. These peptidases are used in a variety of industries, including laundry detergents, leather and fabric processing, food processing, baking, flesh tenderization, food additives, artificial sweetener synthesis, feed, cheese making and the dairy industry, soy sauce production, brewing and cereal processing, photography, environmental bioremediation, medical and pharmaceutical industries, plant pathology, nitrogen production, and so on. Proteases are classified based on physiological roles. Extracellular proteases breakdown down large proteins into smaller parts on the other hand, intracellular proteases helps in the regulation of...

Bhavaprakasha is Ayurveda’s important nighantu (Lexicon) written in the sixteenth century AD. Many useful herbs are mentioned in Bhavaprakasha Nighantu that can be used daily. However, one common misconception is that all ayurvedic drugs are safe and devoid of any side effects since they are of herbal origin is not true. Ayurvedic herbs sometimes become harmful based on the condition of the patient. The present review reports cautions and contraindications in administering certain herbs mentioned in Bhavaprakasha Nighantu for pregnant ladies and those who wish to conceive. Out of total of twenty-three Vargas (Classified groups), six vargas that is Harithakyadi to Amradi Phala varga of Chunekar commentary of Bhavaprakasha Nighantu were reviewed. Hareethakyadi, Karpooradi, Guduchyadi, Pushpadi, Vadaadi, Amradi Phala, comprising two seventy-nine herbs were reviewed critically with regards to their already mentioned action on conceived women and who wish to conceive from Bhavaprakasha Nighantu under four headings (1) Garbhasravakara / Garbhapathakara herbs (Abortifacients) (2) Garbhanirodhakara (Contraceptive) (3) Garbhashaya sankocha kara (Oxytocics) (4) Avrishya (Anaphrodisiac). Also more than a hundred...
