Poisonberry is the colloquial name for Solanum indicum Linn. It grows to over one meter in height and is thorny and densely branched. It is usually found in India’s warmer regions, up to an altitude of 1500 meters. This important medicinal plant treats respiratory infections, skin infections, ulcers, dyspepsia, cough, and stomach discomfort in Ayurveda and Siddha, the Folk and Traditional Indian systems of medicine. The findings of evidence-based tests are compared to the folkloric use of Solanum indicum Linn. Despite being a rich source of solanine, one of the plant’s most feared poisons, Solanum indicum has proved its value as a reservoir of antioxidants with hepatoprotective, anti-tumor, cytostatic, anti-convulsant, anti-ulcerogenic and anti-inflammatory properties. The evaluation examines whether or not proper scientific methods have been followed in developing experimental evidence supporting Solanum indicum traditional applications, including in-vitro, in-vivo, and clinical trials. The study’s goal is to compile the most recent information on pharmacognostic research, medicinal purposes, chemical constituents, and other pharmacological effects. Solasodine, Solamargine, Solasonine, Solanine, and Solanidine were...

Breast cancer (BC) is one of the most prevalent cancers in women; there were 2.3 million women diagnosed with breast cancer globally. Unfortunately, most anticancer drugs have reported high Potential toxicity, mutagenic and carcinogenic side effects. Existing treatments can neither stop its propagation and/or recurrence nor are specific for cancer cells. Hence the side effects on healthy tissues and cells are common. There is a need to improvise the patient’s quality of life and the efficiency of the treatments, which can be potentiated with reduced toxicity. Nanotechnology has vast applications in diagnosing, treating and preventing breast cancer. Nanotechnology offers new alternatives for the design that can be used in cancer treatment and has now become a very promising tool for its use against breast cancer. In this review, we provide a broad overview on the use of nanotechnology in the fight against breast cancer. We have analyzed the latest research (2019-2021) in nanotechnology as a potential step for breast cancer treatment. We also give a brief summary of the...

Recently, scientific investigations of medicinal plants using indigenous medical systems have attracted a lot of attention in international investigation. Nature has imparted our planet with an enormous wealth of medicinal plants known for bestowing and are highly esteemed worldwide as a rich source of therapeutic agents for the prevention and cure of diseases and ailments. Since their chemical characterization in the 19th century, herbal bioactive compounds have fueled drug development. Herbal drugs can be potential drugs to replace them. Every year, many plants from the traditional medicinal system may be screened for their potential analgesic activity. Still, only a few of them only included in the health care system after clinical research. So this is time to give more emphasis on research work based on natural sources, investigate the active phytochemical constituents, and use them on a specific...

Drug addiction has become a worldwide problem and the leading cause of death. In recent years, India is seeing a rising trend in drug addiction. The most common drug use in India is alcohol, followed by cannabis and opiates. Drug use, whether licit or illicit, causes serious health problems in individuals. The national survey on drug use in India indicated that the prevalence of drug abuse among males in the general population is significant. Economic burdens disturbed family environments, violence, and psychological problems are other consequences of drug abuse in the family. Treatment can occur in a variety of settings, take many different forms, and last for different lengths of time. Because drug addiction is typically a chronic disorder characterized by occasional relapses, short-term, one-time treatment...

A periodontal disease is a group of pathological diseases, i.e., a widespread infectious disease that mainly causes tooth loss in 15% of adults worldwide. For the treatment of these periodontal diseases, localization of the drug is necessary i.e.; the drug has to be delivered to the periodontal pocket, which is the main area for the development of bacteria. So, researchers have made many attempts to develop the treatment of periodontal disease, including drug delivery to the infection site and regeneration approaches; they really provide a useful experimental mode for evaluating therapies for future periodontal diseases. This review mainly focuses on the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases, the process of fabrication of nanofibers using electrospinning techniques, and mainly how these electrospun nanofibers are used in the treatment of periodontal diseases. And gives an overview of how antibiotics, antimicrobial agents, and nanocomposite electrospun nanofibers are used in the treatment of periodontal...
