Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disorder that permanently damages and disables the joints if left untreated. Much research is being carried out; however, any detailed information that could impart knowledge of all the major aspects in an undivided form is still lacking. This review attempts to revive the existing knowledge on RA and provides comprehensive data and current information about the classification criteria for the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and treatment protocol for the management of Rheumatoid arthritis. Early and accurate diagnosis is essential as it can slow down the progression of the disease, permanent joint damage and disability in up to 90% of RA patients. This article also focuses on various diagnostic modalities which help in the diagnosis of RA, and synthetic medicines available for the cure of RA. It provides a section about non-pharmacological and herbal treatment options available for the management of Rheumatoid...

Nutraceutical is employed to explain a medicinal or nutritional component with a food, plant, or natural material that will be purified or concentrated. It is used to improve health by preventing or treating disease. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a clinical condition characterized by lipid infiltration of the liver with a high prevalence in the general population affecting 25% of adults with a double prevalence in diabetic and obese patients. Nearly 1/3 of NAFLD progresses to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), leading to liver fibrosis and cirrhosis. There are currently no specific drugs approved on the market to treat NAFLD. So the treatment is essentially based on lifestyle optimization. However, some nutraceuticals may contribute to developing liver lipid infiltration and related anthropometric, haemodynamic and/or biochemical parameters. The objective of this article is to review the available clinical data on the effect of nutraceuticals on NAFLD and other parameters related to NAFLD. There are relatively few nutraceutical molecules that are adequately studied for their effects on NAFLD and other related diseases....

As a source of medicine, plants have always been exceptional. Ayurveda and other Indian texts discuss the use of plants to treat a variety of human illnesses, including cancer and diabetes. Thousands of plant species in India, which number in the tens of thousands, are thought to have medicinal use. Recent studies on plants described in historical writings or used to treat sickness have been carried out. An Indian medicinal plant of the Bignoniaceae family is Stereospermum suaveolens DC. It has traditionally been used as an analgesic, liver stimulant, astringent, wound healer, and antiseptic. Dashamularishta has the roots of this plant as one of its components. More research into the plant’s medicinal properties has been done than the isolation of its active components. Stereospermum suaveolens have been used to treat fevers and brain disorders for their antibacterial, antiprotozoal, and anti-inflammatory properties. An in-depth look at the chemistry and pharmacology of Stereospermum suaveolens is presented in this...

Insulin is commonly administered to diabetic patients sub-cutaneously and has shown poor patient compliance. The problem lies with the delivery of proteins and peptides to the body, for which oral, transdermal, vaginal, rectal, and pulmonary routes have been explored for proteins like insulin. Still, so far subcutaneous route has delivered the best results. This results in fear of the patients due to the prick caused by the subcutaneous delivery. To overcome these nuances, work has been carried out on delivering insulin orally. Different molecules have been extensively studied to deliver insulin orally. This review article covers the various materials exploited for the delivery of peptides like insulin, viz. polymers, nanoparticles, liposomes, and many more that have been evaluated as a vehicle for the oral delivery of insulin. Polymers that are naturally obtained like chitosan and its subsidiaries, alginates, γ-PGA based materials, starch-based nanoparticles, and manufactured polymers like PGLA, P(MAA-g-EG), PLA, PEA Poly(alkyl cyanoacrylate) Nanoparticles, Solid Lipid Nanoparticles, Targeted Nanoparticles and Gold Nanoparticles have been discussed for a better understanding...
