The current study deals with anti-diabetic and pancreatic protective effects of Flemengia strobilifera extracts in a high-fat diet (HFD) and streptozotocin (STZ) induced type 2 diabetes model. Toluene extracts were orally administered at the dose of 10, 30 and 100 mg/kg and metformin was used as a standard anti-diabetic drug at 10 mg/kg dose orally. Blood glucose, lipid profiles, pancreatic oxidative stress parameters and oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) were performed. Treatment with extracts resulted in a significant decrease in diabetes incidence with a marked reduction in the blood glucose levels dose dependent and time dependent. Glucose tolerance was greatly improved after treatment with plant extracts with high dose group producing effects similar to standard drug-mediated beneficial effects. Histopathological studies also indicated pancreatic beta-cell protective effects of Flemengia strobilifera extracts with increased beta-cell number and size. Our results demonstrate that Flemengia strobilifera can be a possible remedy to treat type 2 diabetes and associated...

Cancer is a genetic disorder that can happen to anybody; anytime. The treatment, where one or more chemotherapeutic agents (anti-cancer drugs) are used either to treat the cancer patients (curative intent with one or combination of anti-cancer drugs) or to prolong the life and to reduce the symptoms in cancer patients is known as Chemotherapy. But nowadays it is observed that when these chemotherapeutic agents are administered in the cancer patients for prolonged period then the drugs stop showing the required response and thus results in the failure of the treatment. This is called Multiple Drug Resistance (MDR). Various treatments are coming up recently, and combination therapy of chemotherapeutic agent and chemosensitizer molecule is one of the effective approaches to combat the Multidrug Resistance of anti-neoplastic drugs in cancer cells. This paper reviews MDR associated with cancer, therapies to overcome the resistance and studies to confirm the...

Introduction: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is chronic inflammatory arthritis in children and adolescents. The symptoms present in JIA are more comparable with features of Aamavata Vyadhi mentioned in Ayurvedic classics. JIA can be treated by Shodhana and Shaman therapy of Ayurveda which is free from any side effects. The main aim of this article is to elaborate on JIA and its treatment by different modalities of Ayurveda. Methodology: This review work was carried out by using a widespread and planned data mining approach. To achieve significant literature author uses the keywords “Juvenile idiopathic arthritis” “Shodhana therapy in JIA” “JIA treatment by Ayurveda” and “herbal medicine for JIA” searched in Google Scholar, web of science, Science direct, Scopus, Medline, and PubMed Central journal literature. Observation: Nine publications were included in the final selection after systematic analysis. Conclusion: In Ayurveda, Shodhna therapy such as Sarvaanga Abhangya (Full body massage with medicated oil), Nadi swedana (Steam bath), Valuka Swedana (fomentation by sand pack) and Vaitarana Basti (type of medicated enema) is very...

This paper is to review the green catalytic synthesis of organic reactions and discussed its advantages over the conventional method of synthesis. Recent advanced technologies have key trend to reduce the negative impacts of chemical environment and helps to obtain sustainability in chemical production. This review tries to bring many catalytic techniques that are safer in nature and more economical. We have considered those synthetic schemes which have significant role in pharmaceuticals industry and the different green catalyst employed in those reactions. These organic reactions have special advantages with the use of catalyst; there is better utilization of starting materials and minimum waste product formation. The main objective of these synthetic schemes is that there is least pollution to the...

Background: Hypertension is associated with the flow of blood under high pressures, and is a risk factor for coronary heart disease. Methodology: We designed a prospective observational study that included 280 participants to investigate the effect of hypertension on the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) for hypertensive patients in the eastern province of KSA. To measure HRQOL, this study used EQ-5D-5L which consists of five dimensions that are further divided into five levels of severity. Results: Among the normotensive participants, 77%, 96%, 66%, 38%, and 44% were agreed as having no problem in terms of self-care, anxiety or depression, usual activities, mobility, and pain or discomfort respectively; whereas among the hypertensive participants, these were 36%, 79%, 20%, 21%, and 31% respectively. Conclusion: We concluded that health-related quality for hypertensive patients is significantly affected by HTN. Therefore, great attention must be paid to enhance their quality of life to avoid any future...
