The plant Tephrosia purpurea L. is commonly known as Unhali. T. purpurea (Leguminosae) is a copiously branched perennial herb. Present work was undertaken to study antioxidant potential of the plant. Dried ethanol and aqueous extracts plant were screened for in-vitro antioxidant activity by DPPH assay and nitric oxide screening methods. Results showed that IC50 value of aqueous extract in DPPH assay and nitric oxide scavenging assay are 78 ug/ml and 89 ug/ml respectively. Phytochemical screening revealed that flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins and phenolic compound are present in aqueous extract and may be responsible for the activity. It can be concluded that the aqueous extract of T. purpurea L. root can be used as antioxidant and it can be recommended for the treatment of various...

Despite of tremendous advancement in drug delivery the oral route of drug administration is the most important method of administration of drug for systemic effect. The parenteral route is not routinely used for self administration of medication. It has been known for centuries that buccal and sublingual administration of drug solute is rapidly absorbed into the reticulated vein, which lies underneath the oral mucosa. The oral mucosa has rich blood supply and it is relatively permeable. The permeability of the buccal mucosa is 4- 1000 time greater then that of skin. the administration of drugs by the buccal route has several advantage over per oral administration such as QWICK ACTION, avoid of first pass metabolism , drug is not subject to acidic environment of the stomach and also the improved patient compliance particularly with pediatric & geriatric patient. It is the objective of this article to review the oral mucosal drug delivery by discussing briefly the structural feature of mucosa as drug delivery such as buccoadheshive film & tablet,...

For cancer therapy, microtubule network is an attractive cellular target. Main component of cell cycle is mitotic stage, particularly when the mitotic spindle separates the replicated chromosomes. The rapid microtubule dynamics also play a critical role for activities of the bipolar spindle. Microtubule targeting drugs act at binding site either by destabilizing or hyper-stabilizing microtubules. It results mitotic arrest at the prometaphase or metaphase to anaphase transition, then it leads to subsequent apoptotic cell death. Taxanes and Vinca alkaloids have been validated by the successful use for a wide variety of human cancer. Clinical development of colchicines for cancer therapy has not been successful till now because they produce toxic effect in normal tissues. Semi-synthetic analogue of taxane, docetaxal is more potent than paclitaxel against cancer cell proliferation. It is now used for the treatment of breast, prostate and non small cell lung cancer. Successful use of paclitaxel and docetaxel in cancer therapy has inspired the new microtubule targeting agents that bind to taxane site, like Epothilones, discodermolide, eleuthelobin,...
