Nowadays, a very large proportion of new drug candidates arising from drug discovery programs are water-insoluble and, for that reason, poorly bioavailable. The trouble is even more complex for drugs that belong to the BCS Class II category. To overcome these problems, nanotechnology is used to enhance the solubility as well as bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs. In the ocular drug transport system, ocular infections are dealt with by various topical drug applications in the form of solutions, suspensions, and ointment. These conventional dosage forms go through from the problems of poor ocular bioavailability due to minimal ocular residence time because of various anatomical and pathophysiological barriers prevailing in the eye. Nanotechnology refers to the particle size range of 1–1000 nm. Nanosuspensions are a part of Nanotechnology. Nanosuspensions are defined as the submicron colloidal dispersions of pharmaceutically active ingredient particles in a liquid phase, the measurement under 1μm, without any matrix material, which is stabilized by surfactants and polymers. Major concerns with topical ocular delivery include poor drug absorption...

The objective of the present study was to develop and characterize the fast disintegrating tablets, which rapidly disintegrates in the sublingual area without the need of water or with a little amount of water. Amlodipine besylate is a calcium channel blocker (long-acting) basically used in the treatment of angina and hypertension for immediate relief in life-threatening conditions. In this work, we prepared the fast disintegrating tablet of Amlodipine besylate for the increasing rate of dissolution using two different classes of super-disintegrating agents naturals are (Locust bean gum; Plantago ovata) and synthetic are (Croscarmellose sodium, Crospovidone). The method of preparation was direct compression. The pre-formulation studies were also performed. The tablets were prepared and evaluated according to the parameters in the pharmacopeia. Results revealed that fast disintegrating tablets prepared with Locust bean have the highest drug release (in-vitro) of 98% within 30 min. The use of Locust bean as super disintegrant has majorly promoted the rapid release of the active drug. This study gives knowledge about the pivotal fundaments related...

Chemoprevention is the novel approach that inhibits and delays or reverses the process of cancer development by using natural herbs and plant products. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the anticancer efficacy of orally administered Capparis decidua fruit extract (CDE) on skin carcinogenesis model in swiss albino mice by the single topical application of the 7,12 dimethylbenz (a)anthracene (100µg/100µl of acetone) followed by croton oil after 2 weeks (1% in acetone/thrice in a week). Oral administration of the CDE at a dose of 50 mg/kg b.wt./day during the peri initiation stage (one week before DMBA and one week after the application followed by croton oil till the end of the experiment) and post-initiation stage (after 2 weeks DMBA application, from the day of croton oil treatment till the end of the experiment). A significant reduction in the tumor incidence, tumor burden, and a cumulative number of papillomas was observed, along with the increase in the average latent period in mice treated with CDE drugs compared with...

Background: Early childhood caries is a rapidly progressing type of dental caries in children. It can lead to partial or complete loss of crown structure. Grossly decayed anterior teeth often lead to discomfort, and the child may face psychological, aesthetic, functional, and phonetic problems that affect the quality of life of the child, and it poses a challenge for the dentist to preserve the teeth until the eruption of succedaneous teeth. Case Description: This case report discusses the aesthetic reconstruction of grossly decayed primary maxillary incisors using Glass Fiber- Reinforced Composite Post and Core in a 5-year-old female patient. Placement of intracanal posts in pulpectomy treated teeth improves the retention of a coronal restoration. This technique of Glass Fiber- Reinforced Composite Post and Core restoration has shown promising results in the literature and has presented children’s dentist with an alternative treatment option for preserving the grossly decayed primary anterior...

In nature, lectins or glycoproteins are ubiquitous, abundantly distributed. Lectinsplayan an important role in plant defense mechanism against microorganisms. This fact has greatly attracted many research groups working in the field of biotechnology, agriculture, and medicine. Jamun or black plum is a fruit with many health benefits. This paper focuses on the phytochemical investigation of trichloroacetic acid precipitated proteins from leaves, pulp, and seeds. The glycoproteins were characterized by hemagglutination, hemagglutination inhibition, and tested the stability at different temperatures and pH on blood groups by and tested their efficacy on human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells. Phytochemical investigations of trichloroacetic acid precipitated test sample defined the occurrence of protein and absence of other phytochemicals. Blood group O+ showed a quick response of agglutination. Both pulp and leaf extracts showed cytotoxicity and genotoxicity on human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells in a dose-dependent manner. Glycoproteins were stable at varying temperatures and pH. The current study results indicated that the jamun fruit extract is also a potent anti-proliferative agent against lymphocytes. However, further...
