In the present work, the aim was to prepare a self-emulsifying drug delivery system of poorly soluble analgesic, mefenamic acid to improve its solubility with a view to enhance its oral bioavailability. From the solubility studies the selected oil, surfactant and co-surfactant was soyabean oil; tween 80, span 20; glycerol. Blends of surfactant mixtures containing tween 80, span 20, and glycerol were prepared. Three ratios of Smix containing tween 80: span 20: glycerol viz. 1:0.25:1, 1:1:1, 2:2:1; were used to construct pseudo ternary phase diagram to select nine formulation composition. Nine self-emulsifying formulations of mefenamic were prepared and evaluated for optical transparency, low refractive index, uniformity index, low viscosity, and drug release. Dorzolamide is commonly used to treat glaucoma, damage in the eye often caused by abnormally high pressure in the eye. It is one of the carbonic anhydrase inhibitors which is effective in decreasing intraocular pressure by decreasing the production of the aqueous humor. The main objective of the study was to entrap dorzolamide in a novel nanovesicular carrier system (spanlastics) to ensure sustained and intravitreal delivery in eye to overcome the problem of frequent dosing. The Dorzolamide spanlastics prepared were checked on three factors, i.e., the ratio of Span 60: Tween 80, sonication time and stirring speed. In Asian countries, roots, barks, stems, leaves, and fruits of plants belonging to the Morinda species are considered as valuable traditional herbs. They are used in folk medicine for the treatment of many diseases, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and cancer. Anti-tubercular and cytotoxic activities of Morinda citrifolia (noni) have been reported, but Morinda coreia has not been explored for these two activities to date. In the present study, a systematic investigation was carried out with the air-dried leaves of M. coreia by bio-assay guided fractionation by three different extraction methods including conventional solvent extraction (SE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) and ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) methods to identify the best method for extraction for bioactive fractions responsible for anti-mycobacterium and anticancer activities. Seeds of Macrotyloma uniflorum Linn. (Fabaceae) are widely used for treatment in kidney stones in India. In This study evaluates the in-vitro effect of methanolic extract of Macrotyloma uniflorum (MEMU) on calcium oxalate crystallization. A methanolic extract of M. uniflorum seeds at different concentrations (250-1500 μg/ml) was subjected to in-vitro crystallization activity. The obtained results were compared with a Cystone (standard herbal product) available in the market. The nucleation and crystal growth assay was performed with different concentrations of sodium oxalate (2-10 mmol/ml for nucleation, 2-3.5 mmol/ml for crystal growth) and evaluated the effect of MEMU and cystone at different doses (250-1500 μg/ml) on the different concentration level of oxalate. Crystal aggregation and crystal dissolution assay were performed and compared with cystone effect. The MEMU was significantly more effective than cystone at inhibiting the nucleation rate and crystal growth at a different concentration level of oxalate. The present investigation aimed at the study of resistant plasmid patterns of multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from hospital-acquired infection in urinary tract site are causes serious public health hazard throughout the world. A total of 100 urine samples were collected from patient admitted to the hospital. The antibiotic sensitivity of isolated uropathogens was performed by Kirby- Bauer method. The plasmid profiles of multidrug-resistant isolates were extracted by the alkaline lysis method. The multiple antibiotic-resistant indexes of uropathogens were calculated and phylogenetically determined. Among 100, 23 urine samples were positively isolated and identified. The Escherichia coli and was found to be predominantly followed by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The multiple antibiotics resistant index was calculated as 0.75 and 0.464 respectively for Escherichia coli HAUTI8, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa HAUTI18, and these strains were phylogenetically identified.
