Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic condition characterized by insulin resistance, or poor secretion, or both. There are several side effects associated with drugs available to cure diabetes. The most common side effect is neurodegenerative. The objective of the present research was to evaluate the efficacy of Cuminum cyminum seed against diabetes and also to evaluate its nephroprotective power in the diabetes mice model. Twelve mice were housed, caged, and segregated into three groups for 28 days (four weeks). Control, diabetic control, and diabetic with Cuminium seed treatment. The diabetic mice model was prepared by a single dose of alloxan (110 mg/kg/bw) introduced intraperitoneally. Glucose monitoring and diabetic condition checked and confirmed by a one-touch glucometer. Alcoholic extract of Cuminum cyminium seed (80mg/kg/ body weight) orally administrated to the diabetic group of mice up to 28 days. After the completion of the whole experiment, animals were sacrificed blood samples were collected for the investigation of biochemical parameters, including glucose, urea, uric acid, and creatinine. There were the least changes observed...

Human pharmaceuticals and their metabolites affect the endocrine system and physiology of aquatic wildlife, which is an important global ecological concern. The published data from open-source toxicology and worldwide web resources reveal about 175 pharmaceuticals that can affect estrogen pathways to disrupt the endocrine system and metabolism. Such studies demand additional investigations on fish and wildlife. As predicted, the use of therapeutic drugs is expected to progressively increase over the coming years, following increased discharge in a freshwater environment. The widespread use and their incorrect dumping procedures have made these chemicals as contaminants of emerging concern (CEC). Particularly, the active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are universally identified in surface water and soil, where they execute negative effects in living organisms. The associated presence of different drugs may undergo bioaccumulation, which causes potential toxicological effects on behaviour, histopathological alterations, reproductive and immunotoxic responses in fish and wildlife. However, the results of published literature revealed that the intensity of impacts is mostly regulated by the concentration of active pharmaceutical compounds, time of...

Heterocyclic compounds represent the important structural key in pharmaceutical medicinal chemistry. In literature, five-membered heterocycles are reported to be a core moiety of various pharmaceutical drugs. Oxadiazole or furadiazole is a five-membered heterocyclic nucleus and is considered to be derived from furan by replacement of two methane (-CH=) groups by pyridine type nitrogen. Oxadiazole is a versatile lead compound for designing potent bioactive agents. 1, 3, 4-oxadiazole having verities of potential biological activities can be synthesized by various methods. Hence, nowadays, researchers have developed innovative methods for the synthesis of 1, 3, 4-oxadiazole derivatives and their medicinal applications. The activities include anticancer, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-HIV, anti-tubercular, anti-diabetic, antifungal, etc. In this review article, we have summarized various methods for synthesis of derivatives of 1, 3, 4 – oxadiazole nucleus and evaluation of various biological activities. The information in the present article may be useful to many researchers, which leads to the exploration of new therapeutic species for...

Aim: The present study focuses on studying the soft rot-causing bacteria in Solanum tuberosum and the activity of phytoextracts against the pathogen to prevent/control this infection. Lantana camara and Clerodendrum infortunatum has been well known for their antibacterial activity and widely used in Ayurveda, these plants were investigated for their antibacterial activity against the isolated pathogen. Methods: The bacteria were isolated from the infected potato sample and cultured in Potato dextrose agar (PDA) media. The isolated was characterized using morphological/biochemical properties and 16S rDNA sequencing. The pathogen was subjected to agar well diffusion assay to investigate antibacterial potential of L. camara and C. infortunatum extracts against this pathogen. Results: A gram-negative cocci were isolated from the infected S. tuberosum sample. Phylogenetic analysis using 16S rDNA sequencing, suggested no previous reports of such bacteria causing soft rot of potato. The 16S rDNA sequence was submitted to GenBank with accession ID MT491092. Phytoextracts of L. camara demonstrated significant antibacterial activity against the isolated bacterial strain SJCTSSP01. Prominent results were observed from...

Cow urine is considered a Sanjeevani–a medicine capable of curing any disease according to ancient manuscripts from Vedic times. The present study was conducted to validate the medicinal properties of cow urine in a scientific manner. The cow urine sample was procured from Indian indigenous cow Bos indicus from Bombay Panjrapole, Bhuleshwar, Mumbai, and commercial gaumutra from the local market. Various treatments were given to the freshly collected cow urine viz. Photoactivated urine (PA), Cow urine distillate (DIS) and Crude cow urine sample (CRU) was used after filtration and centrifugation. In-vitro assays for antimicrobial (agar cup method), antioxidant (DPPH assay), anti-hyperglycemic (α-amylase inhibition) and anti-inflammatory (protein denaturation inhibition bioassay) properties of cow urine were carried out. Results confirmed antimicrobial (19 mm zone of clearance), antioxidant (157 µg /ml), anti-hyperglycemic (2.08 µg /ml) and anti inflammatory (23.72µg /ml) and comparable to Chloramphenicol, Ascorbic acid, Acarbose, and Ibuprofen used as standard respectively. The study demonstrates various medicinal properties of cow urine using in-vitro...
