Cancer initiates from the transformation of normal living cells into malignant cells via a multistage event that usually advances from a pre-cancerous phase to a malignant tumour. Anti-metastatic drugs or anti-neoplastic drugs prevent and regulate the growth of onco cells. Based on the mode of drugs, the universally anticancer drugs market is categorized into cytotoxic, targeted, and hormonal drugs. The targeted drugs class is further divided into monoclonal antibodies, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, and others. The worldwide anticancer drugs market falls into five regions: North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and the Middle East and Africa. Cancer is considered the second largest cause of death globally and is responsible for an estimated 9.6 million deaths in 2018. Globally, about 1 out of 6 deaths is due to cancer. Approximately 72% of deaths from cancer occur in developed and developing countries. Synthetic drugs and other modes of treatment are pre-existing. Chemotherapy treatments have its own limitations due to their toxic effects on non-targeted tissues and it further leads to health...

The current work comprises the assessment of antidiabetic activity of chloroform, ethyl acetate, and ethanol fractions and isolation of some phytoconstituents from chloroform fraction obtained from ethanolic extract of Echinochloa colona. The antidiabetic activity was performed using streptozocin induced diabetic model in male Wistar rats (150-200 g). The best restraint results were for metformin, chloroform, ethyl acetate and ethanol fraction was 5.85 ± 0.004 (90.08%), 6.65 ± 0.004 (67.36%), 6.96 ± 0.003 (60.14%) and 7.05 ± 0.004 (58.01%) respectively, comparing controlled diabetic rats which showed a significant reduction of blood glucose level. On total cholesterol level metformin, chloroform, ethyl acetate and ethanol fraction showed decrease in total cholesterol level by 12.16 ± 0.0044 (56.98%), 13.02 ± 0.004 (53.94%), 14.17 ± 0.004 (49.87%) and 16.37 ± 0.004 (42.24%) respectively. Significantly triglyceride was decreased by 10.39 ± 0.0044 (46.49%), 13.16 ± 0.004 (32.23%), 14.06 ± 0.004 (27.60%) and 14.56 ± 0.004 (42.24%) for metformin, chloroform, ethyl acetate and ethanol fraction respectively. Three important phytoconstituents were isolated from chloroform fraction, and structures...

Previous studies investigated the host-derived salivary matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are responsible for dentin caries progression. The utilization of the MMP inhibitors can become a successful strategy to control dentin caries. In this study, we have tested twenty-four different medicinal plant leaf extracts against human salivary MMPs for investigation of inhibitors. Total phenolics were extracted in methanol, and their assessment was performed by Folin-ciocalteau assay. The presence of salivary MMP inhibitors in all plant leaf extracts was tested by using gelatin zymography. S. cumini leaf extract was found to be containing the highest total phenolics content. Leaf extracts of S. cumini, T. catappa and C. fistula exhibited strong inhibitor activity against salivary MMPs. Presence of inhibitor activity was found to be depending on the amount of phenolics concentration in extracts. The inhibition of salivary MMPs due to the binding action of phenolics with salivary proteins was concluded. As per the data of image J gel analysis software, T. catappa leaf exhibited prominent inhibitor activity as compared to other plants. The...

Objective: To investigate the hepatoprotective activity of polyherbal formulation composed of extracts of Bauhinia variegata, Oxalis corniculata, and Pterocarpus marsupium. Methods: The hepato-protective activity of the formulation and extracts were assessed on the basis of histopathological changes in the liver and estimation of SGOT, SGPT, SALP, serum bilirubin of carbon tetrachloride-induced hepato-toxic rats. Results: The result of the present studies strongly indicates that the hepatoprotective property of polyherbal formulation is evidenced by less damaged hepatocytes cells. Conclusion: Polyherbal formulation composed of aqueous extracts of Bauhinia variegata, Oxalis corniculata, and Pterocarpus marsupium revealed significant hepatoprotective profile as compared to standard formulation...

Introduction: The study was aimed at knowing the effect of mobile phone electromagnetic radiation (EMR) on fertility in Wistar Albino Rats and to assess the capability of polyphenolic rich Withania somnifera root extract in shielding rat testis against EMR-induced injuries. Methodology: One hundred and forty-four male Wistar Albino Rats were included in the study and grouped in to 4. Group I received a standard diet, Group II exposed to active mobile phone radiation of 2700 MHz fields for 3 hours/day, Group III exposed to 2700 MHz fields for 3 hours/day along with administration of 250 mg/kg aqueous extract of Withania somnifera root (Aq-Wsr) orally and Group IV received standard diet and 250 mg/kg Aq-Wsr during the experimental period of 180 days. Results: Group-II showed a significant decline in the sperm parameters and reduced in-vivo antioxidants. Group III revealed significant augmentation of sperm parameters and regulated the in vivo antioxidants. On microscopic examination, Group II showed irregular seminiferous tubules, atrophy of spermatogonial cells, hyper-cellularity, degenerated spermatozoa, and decreased number of...
