Euphorbia fusiformis Buch.-Ham.ex D. Don, (Synonym: Euphorbia acaulis Roxb) is an infrequent, medicinal, geophytic herb of the family Euphorbiaceae. It is distributed only in few pockets of India, Nepal, Africa and China. In India, it is found to grow in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Goa, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Traditionally, local tribal people of India had been using this plant to treat headache, arthritis, gout, paralysis, diarrhoea, abdominal diseases, abdominal tumor, liver disorders, urinary stones, chronic wound cracks, skin disease, eczema and poor lactation. In scorpion and snake bites, plant latex was used as an antidote. Phytochemical analysis of the plant demonstrated the presence of number of primary and secondary metabolites such as flavonoid, phenol, proteins, saponin, phytosterol, triterpenoids, fixed oil and fats. It also contains vitamin C, vitamin E, and minerals. Some of the important phytoconstituents found in roots of Euphorbia fusiformis are Caudicifolin, Ellagic acid, 3, 3′-di-O methylellagic acid and Euphol. Sesquiterpenes, aliphatic compounds and small amount of monoterpenes...

Drugs that have a proximal absorption window can be improved by the Gastro Retentive Drug Delivery System which provides continuously releasing the drug for a prolonged period of time as controlled delivery before it reaches its absorption site, thus ensuring its optimal bioavailability. The intend of this current work is to formulate a gastro retentive floating tablet of Venlafaxine hydrochloride by hot-melt extrusion method. The buoyancy of tablet leftovers for 24 hours in the stomach and in a controlled way the drug was released. In the present work, by using the direct compression method, various formulations were made, in which HPMC K15M, Guar gum, and Xanthan gum were included as swelling polymers, sodium bicarbonate as gas generating agent, and MCC as diluent, talc, and magnesium stearate used as glidant &lubricant respectively. By the UV spectroscopic and IR spectroscopic interpretation, the characterization of the drug was recognized. The hardness, friability, uniformity of weight, drug-polymer interaction, in-vitro floating studies, Swelling Index & in-vitro drug release studies were evaluated for all the...

Nephrolithiasis or kidney stone disease is a disease characterized by the formation of crystals in the kidney. It is a disease that is found in many countries with high rates of recurrence and treatment costs. This study analyzes the effect of Breadfruit leaf extract on oxalate levels of CaOx stones deposited in the kidney and leukocyte differentiation in hyper oxaluric rats induced ethylene glycol. Experimental research with a -post-test with control design using 25 rats, which randomly divides into five groups, namely Normal, Ethylene Glycol, extract doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg BW groups. The rat’s induced ethylene glycol 0.75% v/v for 28 days to initiate hyperoxaluria and the formation of CaOx stones. The treatment groups were given extracts from days 15 to 28. The data show tht the induction of ethylene glycol increases the levels of kidney oxalate (CaOx). Giving Breadfruit leaf extract 400 mg/kg BW can significantly reduce kidney oxalate (CaOx) levels and influence the total level of leukocytes. Leukocyte differentiation. The Breadfruit leaf extract prevents...

The comparative study of in-vitro seed germination was conducted to determine the influence of different concentrations of chemically synthesized copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) on the in-vitro seed germination and growth of two different varieties of wheat- PBW677 and PBW725 on MS medium. For all growth parameters taken under the present study, PBW 725 variety of wheat performed better in the basal MS media having different concentration of CuNPs than PBW 677. 100% germination percentage of PBW 725 variety of wheat is achieved on Basal MS medium supplemented with 5 ppm CuNPs. This variety has better seed vigour and tolerance index. It indicates that a lower concentration of CuNPs is potential enhancer of seed germination of this particular variety. But the higher concentration of the nanoparticles proved to be detrimental and resulted into poor seed germination and decreased morphological development of the plants of both...

Objectives: The objective of the study is to find out the alpha-amylase inhibitory activity of Katankateryadi Kwatha. The alpha-amylase enzyme is the key source for postprandial hyperglycaemia, which is responsible for Type 2 Diabetes. Methodology: The crude drugs of Katankateryadi Kwatha (K. Kwatha) were collected from a local market. The Kwatha was prepared and dried with rotatory evaporator, under reduced pressure. Different concentrations (10, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 μg/ml.) of Kwatha were prepared and used for α-amylase inhibitory assay using starch as a substrate. Similarly, the protocol performed with Acarbose as standard. The absorbance was read at 595 nm using spectrophotometer. The percentage of α-amylase inhibitory activity and IC50 values of each concentration was calculated. Results & Discussion: The study shows that the Katankateryadi Kwatha has alpha-amylase enzyme inhibitory property. Standard Acarbose shows IC50 value of 38.46±0.956 with % inhibition ranged from 23% to 80% at concentration 10, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 µg/ml. while the inhibitory concentration (IC50 value) of K. Kwatha was found to...
