An introduced, non-native, exotic, or alien species are those that grow in areas outside of their natural habitats. They get introduced deliberately or accidentally into new areas by anthropogenic activities or naturally through water, wind, etc. In non-native areas, these species invade rapidly due to the non-availability of natural enemies (prey) in a new habitat. Therefore, these fast-spreading exotic species are called invasive alien species. Verbesina encelioides, an invasive species of the family Asteraceae, is introduced from the United States and started to invade many arid or semi-arid regions. It is commonly known as ‘Golden crownbeard’. The weed is used as a source of traditional medicines by the indigenous people. Some researchers investigated its toxic, allelopathic, antimicrobial and nematocidal properties. Its phytochemical analysis has shown the presence of flavonoids, terpenoids, alkaloids, carbohydrates, saponins, phenolic compounds, sterol, etc. The pharmacological studies showed this plant’s antibacterial, antitumor, antifungal, antiprotozoal and hypoglycemic potential. Attempts have been made to cover various aspects related to V. encelioides in this review...

Cancer is the world’s second-largest cause of death. Although substantial progress has been made in treating and controlling cancer progression, there are still significant flaws and space for improvement. During chemotherapy, several unfavourable side effects might arise. Natural-derived substances are attracting scientific and academic attention since they are thought to have fewer hazardous side effects than conventional treatments like chemotherapy. Natural secondary metabolites produced by plants are being studied for their anticancer properties, which could lead to the creation of novel therapeutic medications. The demand for naturally produced chemicals from medicinal plants and their features that make them possible anticancer treatments are discussed in this...

Background: Halela (Terminalia chebula Retz) is one of the constituents in the well-known Unani compound medicine Itriphal, which has been used for thousands of years to treat a variety of ailments. In order to improve the therapeutic activity of the drug, the present study adapted the process of Tadbeer / Mudabbar (rectification/purification) which is based on the concept of Islah-e-Advia. This process thus helps in making the drug effective, safe, and specific, or minimizing undesirable characteristics by acting on the drug’s constituents without compromising its medicinal value through various methods (rectification process). Objectives: To further grasp the significance of the notion of Islah-e-Advia, before and after Halela Mudabbar (rectification), a comparative analysis was conducted. Methods: Mudabbar was done by roasting dry Halela powder with Almond oil for 7-10 minutes on a low flame on standard cooking gas. Physico-chemical and quantitative HPLC examinations of gallic acid, ellagic acid, chebulagic acid, and chebulinic acid were performed with Halela before and after the Mudabbar procedure. Results: Quantitative HPLC analysis of gallic acid,...

Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a life-threatening condition with the highest mortality rate of all psychiatric disorders. The core physiological features of ANare the extreme overvaluation of shape and weight. Severe AN causes cardiovascular complications and majorly refeeding syndrome. The prominent features of refeeding syndrome include severe hypo-phosphatemia, hypokalemia and hypomagnesia, and other fluid imbalance abnormalities, vitamin deficiencies, volume overload, and edema. Most cases are brought to clinical attention only when there are severe somatic complaints. According to the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) classification, the patients with AN present chronic disease-related malnutrition without inflammation with different degrees of severity. To be diagnosed with anorexia nervosa a person must meet all of the current DSM 5 criteria. We cannot pinpoint a single cause for anorexia nervosa. It is caused by the complex interaction of various genetic and psychosocial factors, other risk factors include: stress, social isolation, poor emotion regulation strategies, and general psychiatric co-morbidities. In anorexia, Nutritional supplements can improve weight gain, which can reverse the abnormal hematological factors,...

The present work deals with the formulation of containing aqueous extract of Tectona grandis (Teak) Leaves and prepared formulation against some Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The antibacterial activity of various T. grandis leaves extracts was measured by determining minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) by cube dilution method and zone of inhibition by disc diffusion method against P. aeruginosa, Aqueous T. grandis Leaves extracts exhibited comparatively higher antibacterial potential in comparison with other extracts. All the prepared herbal formulations were subjected to antibacterial study by determining the zone of inhibition by disc diffusion. Herbal formulations containing gel aqueous exhibited better zones of inhibition against P. aeruginosa in comparison with others. This type of bacteria (germ) is found commonly in the environment, like in soil and water. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that herbal formulations containing gel aqueous T. grandis leave extract are found suitable for use against bacterial infections in the form of topical gels or another suitable dosage...
