Obesity and overweight have recently drawn greater attention due to their central role in the rapid increase of metabolic syndrome disorders. The research pursuit for exploring novel and effective therapeutic alternatives to deal with obesity ailments and oxidative stress has received immense interest. In this study, different solvent fractions of Nigella sativa (N. sativa; Black cumin) seeds were prepared and their phytochemical analysis was done. Among different solvent fractions, the methanolic fraction of N. sativa (MFNS) contained a high level of polyphenols (451.77 ± 0.91 μg/mL) and flavonoids (401.24 ± 0.73 μg/mL). The GC-MS analysis of MFNS showed the presence of several glycosides, oils, and polyphenolic compounds, as mentioned in the results section. The effect of N. sativa seed fractions on inhibition of key digestive enzymes linked to adiposity such as α-amylase, α-glucosidase and pancreatic lipase was evaluated. This study was designed to evaluate and compare the Antidepressant effect of Ibandronate with Amitriptyline on depression models in albino mice. Eighteen Swiss albino mice weighing 20-25 grams were selected and divided into three groups of six animals each. Group 1: Normal Saline- 0.5 ml, Group 2: Amitriptyline – 39 mg/kg, Group 3: Ibandronate 0.325 mg/kg administered orally every day for 30 days. Animals were subjected to a forced swim test, tail suspension test, and Locomotor activity test on 1st, 10th, 20th and 30th day of the experiment after 1 hour of drug administration. The forced swimming test and Tail suspension test detected the duration of immobility, whereas the Actophotometer test detected the influence of the drug on the Locomotor system. Ulcerative colitis was defined as a common intestinal infla-mmatory disease characterized by upregulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress. The leaves of Murraya koenigii and Centella asiatica had been used in traditional medicine to treat the disease. The present study aimed to perform a comparative protective efficacy evaluation between Murraya koenigii and Centella asiatica on acetic acid-induced ulcerative colitis in rats. Rats were randomly categorized into nine groups: control, acetic acid, standard drug, acetic acid + extract of Murraya koenigii (50, 100, 200 mg/kg), and acetic acid + extract of Centella asiatica (50, 100, 200 mg/kg) groups. After 5 days of feeding, colitis was induced in the experimental animal groups by transrectal administration of 1ml of 4% acetic acid. The rats were sacrificed after 24 hr of rectal installation, and their colon tissues were examined.
