With a view to enhancing endogenous knowledge about plants, the present study has been aimed at developing and standardizing dosage forms based on the aqueous extract of Morinda lucida Benth, a plant with hypoglycaemic anti-hyperglycaemic properties. After the aqueous extraction of the leaves of this plant, by maceration, phytochemical screening was carried out on a TLC plate by using the method of Wagner and Bladt (1996) then three capsule formulations were produced (F1, F2 and F3). Different pharmacotechnical tests were conducted according to the European Pharmacopoeia (Eur. Ph.). The presence of alkaloids, flavonoids and saponosids in the aqueous extract attests to its hypoglycaemic and anti-hyperglycaemic properties. Likewise, their presence in the capsules gives them these same properties and shows the neutrality of the used excipients on the phytochemical’s compounds of the extract. The discovery of alternative medications in diabetes management is of huge importance to achieve better safety and efficacy. The natural antioxidant and carbohydrate hydrolyzing enzyme inhibitors are gaining too much importance in the management of diabetes. Lack of scientific data is available on antioxidant and antidiabetic activities on root extract of Spermadicyton suaveolens. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the in-vitro antioxidant and α- amylase potential of Spermadicyton suaveolens. The roots were extracted by the successive Soxhlet extraction process. The extracts were evaluated for the presence of chemical constituents. Besides, the extracts were assessed for their antioxidant potential using a DPPH assay and α- amylase assay by the DNSA method. Phytochemical analysis acknowledged the presence of secondary metabolites alkaloid, phenol, saponins, steroids respectively. All the extracts showed moderate to high antioxidant and enzyme inhibition potential. Amongst all extracts, ethanolic extract showed the highest free radical scavenging potential (IC50= 324 mg/mL). Medicinal plants abound with many phytochemicals that are effective in representing lots of pharmacological activities. The current study aimed at investigating the phytochemical and pharmacological activity of Ethanolic extract of Capparis moonii Wight. The analgesic activity was examined by Eddy’s hot plate method and the acetic acid-induced writhing method. In Eddy’s Hot plate method, after oral administration of EECM at doses of (50, 100, and 150 mg/kg body weight), at the end of the experiment i.e., at 120 min, the percent MPA was 137.70 ± 2.511, 166.99 ± 2.511 and 211.83±10.648% respectively; whereas the reference drug Pentazocine displayed 288.54±10.379% MPA at the dose of 10 mg/kg as compared to the control, and the results were statistically significant (p < 0.01). In the acetic acid-induced writhing test, after oral administration of EECM at doses of (50, 100, and 150 mg/kg body weight), the percent inhibition was 27.08±1.098, 47.62±4.113, and 71.75 ± 3.127%, respectively.
