Tuberculosis is a very serious infectious disease that can lead to death if the person does not take medicine on time. This disease can be spread easily, but it is not mandatory that tuberculosis bacteria will attack suddenly. Still, when the immunity decreases for other reasons, then it will be an attack on health. Before this century, tuberculosis was known as a non-treated disease, but now most drugs are available for treating and curing tuberculosis. This present review provides an overview of the disease and the treatment of...

Purpose: Sanshamani Vati (SHV) is useful in all types of Jwara, and Mahalaxmivilas Rasa (MLVR) is the best drug in various cardiovascular and respiratory disorders. To maintain the enormous trust in Ayurveda, it’s necessary to ascertain the quality, efficacy & safety of Ayurvedic formulations on scientific lines using modern techniques. Present work attempts have been made to standardize the traditional Ayurvedic formulations – SHV and MLVR with modern techniques. Method: The formulations were standardized for physicochemical, Elemental and phytochemical screening. The XRD profiling was done for MLVR. Also the authentication of RM used in SHV was done using HPTLC. The validation of the methods for Elemental and phytochemical assays was performed as per ICH guidelines. Results: The Physico-chemical and phyto-chemical screening of Sanshamani Vati, and Mahalaxmivilas Rasa Tablets was done. The HPTLC profile confirms the presence of Berberine at Rf 0.25 ± 0.02 in SHV and Myristicin at Rf 0.50 ± 0.02 in MLVR. The elemental content of Gold (Au), Iron (Fe), Mercury (Hg) & Copper (Cu) in MLVR...

Siddha medicine originated from Tamil culture in southern India. Worldwide there are 75% of herbal plants are used for AYUSH and Allopathy medicines. Amukkara Choornam is a polyherbal Siddha formulation. Amukkara Choornam has anti-arthritic activity, and it helps to cure rheumatoid arthritis. The demand for Siddha medicines in India is increasing daily; we have to overcome some problems like quality control issues, processing, administrative issues, and clinical trials. From the above, quality control issues are the most important ones. The quality, safety and, side effects, knowledge about herbs can be determined while standardizing each herbal formulation. The knowledge about the herbs and herbal medicines by the villagers and tribes is unknown to scientists. Scientists are well-known about the standardization process unknown by rural peoples and tribes. Hence the present study is carried out to identify the bioactive phytochemical constituents present in Amukkara Choornam by spectroscopic analysis. Standardization is a tool in the quality control process must for rural health care. Siddha medicines are our traditional medicines, which have lesser...

AIM: This review aims to analyze the appropriateness of surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis in obstetrics and gynecology from 2015 to June 2022. Methodology: The review includes interventional, prospective and retrospective observational studies and surveys based on compliance with surgical antibiotic prophylaxis use concerning standard surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis (SAP) guidelines for gynecological and obstetrics surgeries from a web search of PubMed and Google Scholar from the year of 2015 to June 2022. Results: The review describes 33 studies focused on the appropriate usage of surgical prophylactic antibiotics. The majority of the studies revealed excessive and inappropriate use, and the compliance is far below the recommended guidelines, especially in terms of duration which is followed by the selection and time of administration of antibiotics. Conclusion: The majority of the studies analyzed in this review indicated a remarkable rate of inappropriateness, which may contribute to antimicrobial resistance (AMR), which raises the risk of SSI exacerbated by resistant bacteria followed by prolonged hospitalization and increased mortality. There is evidence that pharmacist intervention promotes the...

In the present investigation, newly developed solid dispersion technology that precludes the use of organic solvent and decreases the individual concentration of hydrotropic agents, simultaneously decreasing their toxic potential, was employed for preparing dispersions of valsartan. Valsartan is a pro-drug which has poor bioavailability because of poor solubility as it belongs to BCS class II. Study aims to enhance the solubility of valsartan by mixed solvency approach. Solution was made by using different co-solvents to enhance the solubility of valsartan. Camphor, thymol were used as solvents to increase the solubility of valsartan. A mixture of camphor: thymol (1:1) was selected for solubility enhancement of valsartan. FTIR study did not show any interaction between drug and excipients. Prepared solid dispersions were evaluated for flow properties, XRD, DSC, and SEM were also compressed to form tablets. Dissolution studies of prepared tablets were carried out using USP Type II Apparatus. The stability study for up to one month showed no significant changes by evaluation parameter. It was concluded that the concept of...
