Green nanotechnology is gaining importance due to the elimination of harmful chemicals and provides a safe, environmental friendly and economic method for synthesis of nanoparticles. In the present investigation fruit extract of Leea indica (Burm.f.) Merr. was used for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles. Aqueous fruit extract were added to 1 mm silver nitrate solution by changing the colour of reaction mixture from colourless to brown colour indicates the formation of silver nanoparticles further, confirmed by characteristic UV-Vis absorption peak at 400 nm. Synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by FTIR, EDAX, AFM and HR-TEM. The FTIR data revealed that bio-molecules involved in the reduction and capping of silver nanoparticles. The morphology of silver nanoparticles was determined by AFM and HR-TEM. The size of nanoparticles ranges between 10-50 nm. The EDX analysis confirmed the purity and elemental nature of silver. Synthesized silver nanoparticles exhibited synergistic antimicrobial activity in combination with antibiotic against Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus...

Introduction: Wrightia arborea (Apocynaceae) has been used in traditional medicine to treat ailments such as menstrual and renal complaints, snake-bites, tooth-ache and diarrhea. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the phytochemical constituents, antioxidant, antimicrobial and antiproliferative activities of W. arborea leaf extracts. Materials and Methods: Total phenolic and flavonoid contents of the leaf extracts were determined. The antioxidant activity of the extracts were investigated using DPPH, ABTS, nitric oxide scavenging assays, phosphomolybdenum assay, reducing power and metal chelating assay. Antimicrobial activity was tested against MTCC strains and MDR clinical bacteria. The antiproliferative activity was determined using MTT assay against three cancer cell lines. Results: Extracts showed high total phenolic content ranging from 85.7± 1.15 to 40.3± 0.6 gallic acid equivalents and flavonoid content ranging from 750±5.5 to 140±3.6 quercetin equivalents per gram of dry extract. Ethyl acetate extract showed highest DPPH scavenging activity with an EC50 value of 330μg/ml. The antimicrobial effects of all the extracts were found to be genus specific – only against Klebsiella spp. The chloroform...

Series of 1 of 1-[(3,5 diphenyl substituted ) -4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl]-2-(3H-indol-3-yl) ethan-1-one (5a-5j) derivatives were synthesized by the reaction between indole 3 acetic acid hydrazide and various chalcones (3a-3j). The Chalcones were prepared by Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction in which substituted aromatic aldehydes was treated with simple acetophenone(aromatic ketones) in presence of 20% base(NaOH) and indole 3 acetic acid hydrazide was prepared by reaction between 3 indole acetic acid with hydrazide. The synthesized new compounds were identified by spectral studies and elemental analysis, and were evaluated in vitro for their antimicrobial activity using standard agar diffusion method and using four bacterial strains (Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus) and two fungal strains (Sclerotium rolfsii & Macrophomina phaseolina) most of compounds such 5c.5a,5b,5f,5g i.e 1-[5-(4-Chloro phenyl)-3-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl] – 2 – (3H-indol-3-yl) ethan-1-one (5c), 1-(3, 5-diphenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl) -2-(3H-indol-3-yl) ethan-1-one (5a), 1-[5-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl]-2-(3H-indol-3-yl) ethan – 1-one( 5b), 1-[5-(4 dimethyl amino phenyl)-3-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl]-2-(3H-indol-3-yl)ethan-1-one(5e), 1-[5-(4 Hydroxyl 3 Methoxy phenyl)-3-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl]-2-(3H-indol-3-yl)ethan-1-one(5g). Shows good activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria. All the compound exhibits moderate to average antifungal...

In the present work ethanol, methanol, ethyl acetate, chloroform and benzene extract of the Michaelia champaca leaves were screened for their antimicrobial activity. The ethanolic extracts of M. champaca leaves were proved to have the maximum antimicrobial activity; thus the ethanolic leaf extract was selected and the nanoparticles were synthesized using ionic gelification method. The nanoparticles were characterized physically and chemically using TEM and FTIR respectively. The herbal extract loaded nanopartricles were coated on to the non woven cotton fabric using the pad dry cure method. The antimicrobial activity of the untreated and treated (M. champaca leaf extracts coated fabric and leaf extract loaded nanoparticles coated fabric) fabric were assessed by the standard AATCC 147, AATCC 30 and laundering durability. The herbal leaf extract loaded nanoparticles coated fabric showed the better antimicrobial activity and particularly highest wash durability when compared with other treated fabric. The controlled and sustained releasing property of the herb extract loaded nanoparticles could be attributed to its very effective antimicrobial activity. These particles could further...

Pyrazoles and fused heterocyclic pyrazoles derivatives constitute an interesting class of heterocyclic compounds due to their synthetic versatility and effective biological activity in the field of pharmaceutical science, agriculture etc. In the present study, new substituted pyrazoles were prepared by condensation of substituted primary amine and ethyl acetoacetate at 1400C to form analides as intermediate. These intermediates on further reaction with hydrazine hydrate using ethanol as solvent and converted into pyrazoles. The synthesized compounds were characterised by their physical properties, IR, NMR and elemental analysis techniques. The purity of the compounds and completion of reaction was tested by TLC Technique using ethyl acetate and petroleum ether as an eluent (6:4). The antimicrobial activity of synthesized pyrazoles was assessed by Disk diffusion method using gram positive and gram negative strains. The benzoyl and nitroso derivatives were also prepared to confirm the formation of new compounds. The derivative of these compounds also shows good antimicrobial...
