Azolla is a fern plant through conducting 27 % of protein content and involves actively in bioremediation. So, this property of this plant is exploited in the production of chelated minerals. In this study, selenium-enriched azolla is evaluated with Japanese quails on the performance of growth and serological parameters. The present study is designed with 525 quails divided into 7 treatments, each with 3 replicates. Each replicate contains 25 birds. The evaluation was done from day-old chick to 5-week age in a deep litter farming system. The birds in each treatment are distributed in a randomized manner irrespective of gender, later grouped into control, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4ppm organic selenium treatments, along with 0.2, 0.3, 0.4ppm inorganic selenium treatments sequentially. The body weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion rate were noted every week and significant changes were recorded. In performance trials we observed that 0.2ppm organic selenium shows good performance in body weight gain (P<0.013) and feed conversion rate (P<0.02) at a significant level. At 0.2ppm concentration of...

Introduction: Gold preparations are highly prized and often utilized for their tonic and revitalizing effects in Indian systems of medicine. Gold has both preventive and curative medicinal properties. The Kashyap Samhita, under the name Swarnaprashana, describes the usage of gold internally in children via the oral route. After birth, it is indicated in Lehan karma (supplementary feeding to improve nutrition, immunity and intelligence) and Jatkarma (newborn care). Now a day Swarnaprashana in children is getting huge publicity, and many trials are being conducted to evidence its use in children. Material and Methods: This review is in a narrative format and consists of all publications relevant to Swarnaprashana or Swarnabinduprashana, Suvarnabindu prashan, Suvarnavachayog, or Swarnavachayog that the authors identified through a systematic search of major computerized medical databases; no statistical pooling of results or evaluation of the quality of the studies was performed due to the widely different methods employed by each study. Result and Discussion: The present review of the studies proves the role of Swarnaprashana in enhancing cognition...

Nutraceutical is a word obtained from Nutrition and Pharmaceuticals. Nutrients are a feed constituent that helps to support the life of human beings or animals. Pharmaceutical components are non-toxic food constituents, including prevention and treatment of disease. They commonly inhabit the disorders associated with oxidative stress, for instance, cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, and Hypertension. Nutraceuticals possess substantial importance because of their expected safety and possible nutritional and therapeutic effects. Hypertension is the most frequent risk factor for cardiovascular disease involving coronary heart disease and stroke. There is a crucial role in utilizing single and integral nutraceutical supplements, vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals in the treatment of hypertension. These food supplements rein huge demand because they are less toxic and have long life treatment with dietary food. We have done a face-to-face survey on 33 medical stores. The survey results found that the most demanding nutraceutical is Mactotal, and the least demanding nutraceuticals are Beryl tone and Allvell-Z graph seed extract. The survey study also shows a list of Nutraceuticals that are...

Aggressive behavior is an important prerequisite for acquiring and maintaining feeding resources, territory and mating partners and, therefore, for the survival of an individual and the species. However, dysregulation of aggression among conspecifics can lead to severe injury and death. Aggression is prominently seen when a disturbance occurs in the fine balance of neurotransmitters such as 5-hydroxytryptamine, gamma-aminobutyric acid, dopamine, and receptor subtypes. The current study evaluated the in-vivo anti-aggressive potential of a standardized extract of Alstonia scholaris leaves. The extract of Alstonia scholaris was evaluated for its potential effects against defensive and offensive aggressive behavior models of rodents by oral administration at 250, 500 mg/kg BW dose levels once daily for 14 consecutive days as a suspension in a carboxymethylcellulose CMC, diazepam 1 mg/kg, p.o. was used as a standard anti-aggressive agent. Control group animals were given an equal volume of vehicle 10%, v/v, CMC suspension. The anti-aggressive activity was evaluated using the following validated models of aggression, viz.: Isolation-Induced Aggression, Resident-Intruder Aggression, and Water Competition Test, in...

Single Cell Protein (SCP) refers to the dead, dried cells of various microbes, including bacteria, yeast, algae, and fungi. This type of biomass can be obtained from economically cheap substrates like agro-wastes as a non-conventional proteintious source for human or animal feed. The bioconversion of Darjeeling mandarin peels into single-cell protein (SCP) was performed using Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus oryzae, by submerged fermentation. The study revealed that supplementing Darjeeling mandarin peels with inorganic nitrogen and glucose as carbon sources improved the fungal biomass and single-cell protein production. Aspergillus niger showed the highest biomass and protein yield of 2.53±0.005gm/l and 1.25 gm/l or 43.57±0.00%, respectively. The present study revealed that fungal biomasses had shown crude fat (ranging from to1.16gm/l), crude fiber (ranging from 0.06±0.001to1.97 gm/l), and total genomic DNA content (from 1.85±0.001-2.20±0.001%). Maximum ash content was observed by A. niger biomass in GMPM (3.89%). A. niger converted sugar 71.4% to yield biomass. A. niger and A. oryzae were useful for producing fungal biomass from Darjeeling mandarin...
