Background: Fatigue is a common symptom in patients with advanced kidney disease, with implications for quality of life and clinical outcome. Fatigue is one of the most frequent complaints of dialysis patients and is associated with impaired health related quality of life (HRQOL). Aim: To monitor and measure the severity of fatigue in dialysis and non-dialysis patients of chronic kidney disease. Methodology: This prospective study was performed in the Department of Nephrology in SVIMS, Tirupati, over a period of 6 months. In this study, Fatigue Severity Scale was used with help of questionnaire form. Results: A total of 30 patients were recruited in this study based on their type of dialysis and we categorized subjects based on Gender, Age, Occupation, CKD Stage, dialysis per week, family history, complications and duration of CKD. We found that average fatigue score in Non-Dialysis subjects is 4.80±1.989, Hemodialysis subjects is 4.20±1.033, Peritoneal dialysis is 2.80±1.476. Conclusion: Our study concludes that patient having comorbidity condition like only Hypertension and Hypertension with Diabetes mellitus were...

Sarcocephalus latifolius have a wide range of medicinal applications. This study evaluated the neurobehavioural activity of crude Leaf extract of Sarcocephalus latifolius on wistar rats and the effect on the histoarchitecture of the temporal lobe. Sixteen adult Wistar rats were divided into four groups of four rats each. Group A served as the negative control and received distilled water, B and C served as the experimental group and received 100mg/kg and 150mg/kg of the extract, while D served as the positive control and received 2.5mg/kg of diazepam. The administration lasted for two weeks and the neurobehavioural activity of the extract was explored using elevated plus maze. After the test the rats were sacrificed and the brain harvested, fixed and processed using normal histological techniques. In the elevated plus maze, the experimental group showed increased open entry, when compared to the negative control but less than the positive control, which is a measure of its anxiolytic activity. The extracts altered the microanatomy of the temporal lobe, in dose dependent manner....

The aim of the article is to formulate and evaluate emulsion also perform comparative study with marketed formulation. Emulsion is a heterogeneous system consisting of at least one immiscible liquid dispersed in another in the form of droplets. Emulsion is prepared with castor oil and liquid paraffin. One marketed formulation was taken for comparison. Identification tests, evaluation tests and stability studies were performed. The emulsion was evaluated by the parameters like pH, viscosity and organoleptic properties. The stability study was performed by testing pH and viscosity. The results of the study showed the good organoleptic properties, pH,...

A simple, sensitive, robust and specific high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination metformin and levothyroxine in human plasma. In the current study, the analysis was performed on Phenomenex Luna 5µ C18 100A (250 x 4.6mm, 5 micron) column using acetonitrile: methanol: 0.03M phosphate buffer (pH 2- 3.5) 50:10:40 v/v/v as mobile phase at flow rate 1.0 mL/min. The analytes were monitored with UV-PDA detector at 251nm. In this developed method Metformin and Levothyroxine elutes at a retention time of 2.698 and 5.929 min respectively. The proposed method is having linearity in the concentration range from 5 to 50μg/mL of Metformin and Levothyroxine. The current method was validated with respect to linearity; precision, lowest limit of detection (LOD) and lowest limit of quantification (LOQ), accuracy and recovery according to the USP guidelines. The system consisted of a pump (Shimadzu, prominence, HPLC), with 20µl sample injector, along with a PDA detector at a wavelength of 251nm. Data was compiled using Shimadzu LC Solution...

Lack of awareness about antibiotics use among healthcare practitioners can be a great threat to the community. There is a need to bring awareness among the healthcare providers and the pharmacists regarding the over the counter (OTC) medications list and indications of OTC medication prescribing and dispensing. Pharmacists are important members of the healthcare team and they play a major role in medicine use and the provision of advice regarding appropriate medicines use. Education and training of pharmacists has the potential to influence the behavior of healthcare team members and consumers as part of a multidimensional strategy for changing practice and ensuring the quality use of antibiotics. They are well placed to improve the understanding of antibiotics and inform their judicious use by direct contact with consumers in the community and in hospitals. Consumer education is an important component of the fight against AMR and pharmacists can improve consumer’s awareness of safe and appropriate medication practices concerning antibiotics. Interventions should encompass the enforcement of the policy of prohibiting the...
