Background: Having a satisfaction assessment tool that is reliable and valid is paramount in patient satisfaction research. Objective: To develop an instrument to assess the satisfaction of HIV-infected persons covering different aspects of health service delivery in Nigerian HIV treatment hospitals. Materials and Methods: The questionnaire items were developed from literature as well as from key themes identified by Nigerian patients as been most important in the delivery of high-quality care as reported in a systematic review. The following factors were assessed: construct validity, factorial validity, reliability, face and content validity, and practicality. Bishop Shanahan Hospital Nsukka evaluated the instrument’s viability, and a tertiary healthcare facility validated it. Principal components and varimax rotation were utilized in factor analysis. Utilizing internal consistency and Cronbach’s alpha, reliability was examined. Spearman’s rho correlation was used to determine the convergence and discriminant validity. Results: A 10-item questionnaire was developed in a band score of 0-10 response options. ‘’0’’ indicates complete dissatisfaction and ‘’10’’ denotes complete satisfaction. Ninety questionnaires were collected for the pilot...

Avian salmonellosis is a large group of acute or chronic diseases of birds caused by different species of the genus Salmonella. It is a problem of economic concern for all phases of the poultry industry, from production to marketing. The main aim of this study is to investigate the incidence of Salmonella species in the feed and environment of open-system poultry farms. A total of 46 samples were taken from six poultry farms, layers and broilers. The samples include poultry feed from feeders (23 samples) and litter (23 samples). Isolation of Salmonella was carried out in a selective classical medium (DCA) after enrichment in Selenite-F broth. Four Salmonella isolates represent 5% of total samples were recovered; three isolates (75%) from litter samples and one isolate (25%) recovered from water samples; no Salmonellae were recovered from feed samples. All isolates were identified at the species level using cultural characteristics and biochemical reactions. An antimicrobial sensitivity test for the four Salmonella isolates was carried out. Each isolate was tested to 10...

A simple, novel, precise, rapid, accurate, specific reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) method for estimation of Teneligliptin hydrobromide hydrate and Dapagliflozin propanediol monohydrate API in marketed formulation was developed and validated. The separation was carried out on a Prontosil C18 (250 x 4.6 mm, 5 m) column using an acetonitrile: 3.5 pH Potassium dihydrogen phosphate buffer (60:40 v/v) mobile phase. The flow rate was 1 mL/min, and the UV detector was set to detect at 227 nm. Teneligliptin Hydrobromide Hydrate retained 2.37 min, while Dapagliflozin Propanediol Monohydrate retained 3.61 min. Teneligliptin hydrobromide hydrate revealed a linear response in the concentration range of 10-30ppm. In the concentration range of 5-15ppm, dapagliflozin propanediol monohydrate demonstrated a linear response. Teneligliptin hydrobromide hydrate and Dapagliflozin propanediol monohydrate had correlation coefficients (‘R2‘ value) of 0.999 and 0.992, respectively. Various validation parameters were used to validate the analysis results. Teneligliptin hydrobromide hydrate and Dapagliflozin propanediol monohydrate percentage recoveries vary from 98% to 101%. Both precision and robustness study found to have % RSD...

Medicinal plants are enriched with biological substances that are proven to be a direct or indirect source of modern drugs. The relevance of the exploration of new natural reservoirs of pharmaceutical potential has increased immensely after COVID-19. The present study deals with the extraction of flavonoids from selected plants i.e. Ricinus communis, Euphorbia hirta and Croton bonplandinum from the family Euporbiaceae by following conventional and non-conventional techniques. The conventional and non-conventional method includes Soxhlet extraction and Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction, respectively. Significant and comparable results were obtained for the ultrasonic technique in terms of the total quantity of extracts. The quantity of total flavonoid extract from the root, stem of Ricinus communis and stem, fruit, and root of croton bonplandinum is much greater in UAE (4.8mg/gdw and 36.9mg/gdw, respectively; 8.9mg/gdw, 60.5 g/gdw, 10.7 mg/gdw respectively) than Soxhlet method (0.95 mg/gdw and 4.8 mg/gdw respectively; 0.99 mg/gdw, 13.54 mg/gdw and 1.29 mg/gdw, respectively). The higher quantity of total flavonoids was recorded to be more for all extracts of Euphorbia hirta by...

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy with Gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel (Gemcitabine + Nab-Paclitaxel) And Folfirinox (Folfirinox) are two standard therapies for patients who has locally advanced pancreatic cancer (Lapc). We retrospectively compared the efficacy and safety of the two treatment regimens in patients with unresectable pancreatic cancer. The sample size consisted of 96 patients who has locally advanced pancreatic cancer. (Gnp) Gemcitabine and nab–paclitaxel is Group I (N=53), and Folfirinox consisting of leucovorin, fluorouracil, irinotecan and oxaliplatin is Group II (N=43). The Primary objectives of our study were to compare toxicities between gemcitabine + Nab-Paclitaxel And Folfirinox and to evaluate the safety of these regimens The secondary objective was % reduction of tumor, Surgery (% of patients who underwent surgery) and overall survival both estimated using the independent t- test and chi-square test. Results: The haematological toxicities rates were similar between the two groups (62% vs. 63%; p > 0.05), with similar anemia toxicities rates (62%). The neutropenia toxicity rates were similar (15% vs 16%; p>0.05) and febrile neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and GI toxicities were higher...
