Isolation of plant-based pesticides gaining recent interest due to the clastogenic implications of synthetic insecticides. The polyphenolic-rich fraction from the stem bark of Streblus asper was proven as an insecticide against Dysdercus cingulatus. This study aims to evaluate the genotoxicity of polyphenolic bioinsecticide from Streblus asper (PBSA) using the mouse bone marrow micronucleus assay and compare its effect with malathion, an organophosphorus insecticide, and vepacide, a neem-based bioinsecticide. The micronucleus assay was conducted after 24 and 48 hours after the second administration of the pesticides (two doses by i.p. injection for two consecutive days). Swiss albino mice were divided into six groups, each comprising six animals. The first group received dimethyl sulphoxide (Group I – DMSO control), the second group (Group II – positive control) received 100mg cyclophosphamide/ Kg body weight, Group III received 276mg (LD10) malathion/ Kg body weight and Group IV received 1000mg (LD10) vepacide/ Kg body weight. Group V and VI received 500 and 1000mg polyphenolic-rich fraction (PBSA)/ Kg body weight respectively. A significantly higher frequency...

The Box jelly fish Chiropsoides buitendijki (Horst R, 1907) were collected during low tides from Edwan village, of West Coast of Mumbai. Identification was done at the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), Mumbai. Crude extract of Chiropsoides buitendijki (Horst R, 1907) was obtained following the 80% methanol and 1%acetic acid, absolute methanol and n-butanol (1:1), and n-butanol. The antibacterial activity was carried out on bacteria E. coli, K. pneumonia, S. aureus, S. flexneri, V. Cholerae, C. sporogenes, S. enterica, E. faecalis, and fungal strain Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger whereas the antimycobacterial study was carried out on Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) strain, H37 Rv: ATCC No- 27294. From the above study it is confirms that, the crude extract of Chiropsoides buitendijki have antibacterial and anti- tuberculosis...

This study investigates the presence of bioactive compounds present in the tubers of Curcuma zedoaria using GC-MS analysis. Different compounds, including alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, and proteins, were identified using the preliminary phytochemical screening for aqueous, ethanol and methanol extracts. The present study reports the antimicrobial activity analysis using aqueous, ethanol and methanol extracts. The results show that the ethanol and methanol extracts showed relatively enhanced results. The extracts were subjected to GC-MS analysis, and antibacterial properties for the extracts were analyzed. Bioactive compounds such as 1,2 cyclopentanedione, 2(5H)-furanone, hexadecanoic acid, succinic acid, oleic acid, pyrrolidine etc., were identified through GC-MS. These compounds exhibited various therapeutic functions such as anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial activity. The antibacterial assay showed a considerable zone of inhibition for the ethanolic extracts in the case of K. pneumonia and B. subtilis. Hence, these crude extracts can be used as a better and alternative source, which can be used in herbal medicines. The study concluded that C. zedoaria tuber contains various bioactive compounds. Therefore, this tuber...

Neurological problems should be considered a major public health issue. Around 40%–70% of people exposed to HIV suffer neurological problems such as Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s disease (PD), and other comparable conditions. Various neurological diseases including ALS, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s disease are caused by amyloid-beta accumulation in extracellular regions of the brain. The Substantia nigra’s dopaminergic neurons have been damaged in a widespread and gradual manner. The life span of HIV-infected patients has risen during this period of antiretroviral medication, resulting in increased neurocognitive impairment in around 33% of HIV entities, mainly adults. The testimony of the A inscriptions in the CNS is the most popular sight among elderly HIV patients. ART is separated from harmful duplication, but the harmful neuronal protein (Tat) is still produced, following in facilitated A phases. Furthermore, Cocaine-like drug (COC) use has been linked to HIV-related neurocognitive issues and A excretion. Withaferin A is emitted by inducing the targeting Tat and COC, we suggest Withaferin A (WA), a contemporary bifunctional fragment that acts...

Background: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) has been recognized as one of the main causes of chronic liver disease worldwide. It causes chronic hepatitis, which can progress to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. HCV has different genotypes that can vary in pathogenicity and impact treatment outcomes. Identifying HCV genotypes is very important in selecting antiviral therapy, dose adjustment of antiviral drugs, determination of duration of treatment, and follow-up of the treatment response. Objectives: To determine the genotype of HCV in HCV-positive patients. Materials and Methods: We included 100 anti-HCV-positive patients. HCV RNA (Ribo Nucleic Acid) identification and HCV genotyping assays of the positive specimens were performed by Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Results: Of the 52 HCV RNA-positive cases, Males were more preponderant than females, and the were years. Genotype 3 (n = 40; 76.9%) accounted for the highest number of cases, was only present one case (n = 1; 1.9%), while genotype 4 could not be detected at all was found to be genotypes in the Western part of...
