Ophthalmic delivery for eye drops which currently cover to 90% of available ocular dosage forms are ideal for the treatment of eye diseases but having limitations of poor therapeutic response and low bioavailability. Objectives: The objectives of present research was to develop of formulation and characterize sustained release in-situ ocular gels containing ciprofloxacin hydrochloride using pH induced gelling polymers for increase drug retention time on eye surface which improved therapeutic response and patient compliance. Methods: In-situ gel formulations prepared by dispersion method using Carbopol-940 alone or in combination with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC K4M). Formulations were evaluated for appearance, pH, viscosity, gelling capacity, and drug content and in vitro drug release. The optimized formulation was assessed for sterility and antimicrobial efficacy using disk diffusion technique. Results: The appearance of in situ gels were clear and free flowing in nature however, a viscous clear solution with flow was normal as solution state after gel conversion flow behavior was change. All formulations consisting 0.01%-0.09 %w/v of Carbopol-940 and 0.05% w/v HPMC K4M....

Objective: This study aimed to identify the drug utilization pattern in poisoning patients admitted to tertiary care hospitals and study poisoning patients to determine type of poison cases, demographic character, psychiatric illness, and treatment pattern among poisoning patients. After taking approval from the ethics committee, the study was conducted at Adesh Hospital (AIMSR), Bathinda. Method: This study was conducted for 6 months and data were obtained from 65 patients admitted in the hospital with poisoning. In-patient and emergency department drug utilization studies of poisoning patients were studied, and data were recorded in the patient profile form. The recorded data were analyzed as per the objective of the study. Result: Poisoning episodes were the majority for suicide in 20-29 years (30.8%). Most of the poisoning cases were due to organophosphorus compound consumption of 28 cases, (43.1%). Antidotes like atropine with pralidoxime (24.6%), Glycopyrrolate (36.9%), and other drugs like antibiotics, steroids, analgesics, antiemetics, proton pump inhibitors, antiepileptic agents, and intravenous fluids were utilized for the management of poisoning cases under...

Non-adherence to treatment can negatively affect the result for the patient and the prescriber. On the other hand, high adherence reduces health care cost and improves the quality of life in patients suffering from chronic diseases. This prospective study was carried out on outdoor patients of ischemic heart disease after discharge from the indoor patient department. The modified Morisky Scale is used to assess the patient’s medication adherence. The Chi-square Test assessed the significance of the difference in data. After enrollment, 370 out of 400 patients came to the hospital for follow-up (non-interventional group=295 patients and interventional group=75 patients). 89.83% of patients in the non-interventional group while 94.67%patientsin the interventional group had high adherence in the motivation scale. This difference was found statistically significant (p<0.05). Similar data were found in the knowledge scale. But overall, 90.81% of patients in motivation and knowledge scales had high adherence. In conclusion, approximately 90% of patients found high adherent. We found high adherence in most patients, possibly due to Mukhyamantri Nishulk Dawa Yojana...

Patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) frequently experience disturbed sleep, which could have negative effects. How exactly environmental factors contribute to sleep disruption in the intensive care unit is unknown. The Richard-Campbell Sleep Questionnaire was used to assess their sleep, and the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale was used to assess their depression. 500 patients in total took part in this study. Factors like pain, discomfort, light, medication administration, panic, current sickness, noise, and the ventilator can awake patients in an intensive care unit. Sleep impairment is directly related to co-morbidity. We evaluated the ICU patients’ sleep quality and divided them into groups based on how long they had been there. We specifically selected those who stayed longer than 6 days to compare their sleep quality before and after removing elements that interfere with restful sleep. In order to treat sleeplessness, it is necessary to lessen the factors that cause disruption. Using eye masks, ear plugs, music therapy (playing soft music), reducing light disturbance, noise reduction, and extra blankets...

Background: Environmental factors and genetics significantly impact the development of the chronic, inflammatory, debilitating, and proliferative skin disorder known as psoriasis. Erythematous plaques with distinct borders and silvery scales are signs of psoriasis. Objectives: This study aimed to study the pattern of drug use in psoriasis and to assess patient compliance. Materials & Methods: 96 patients were selected after they met the inclusion criteria. Microsoft Word and Excel were used to create graphs and tables, and statistical software called SPSS version 21 was used to analyze the data. Results: In most psoriasis patients, topical therapy helped cause and maintain the remission of lesions. Plaque psoriasis was the most common psoriasis. Scaly plaque, redness and itching were their most frequent symptoms. Glucocorticoids, either alone or in conjunction with other topical medicines like salicylic acid, calcitriol, coal tar, and a variety of emollients, were the drugs most frequently used for topical therapy. With the exception of formulations containing coal tar, patient compliance was good across the board for the majority of...
