The Bt brinjal is a suite of transgenic Brinjals created by inserting a crystal protein gene (Cry1Ac) from the soil bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis into the genome of various brinjal cultivars. The dispute over Bt Brinjal still continues and a proper decision has not yet been reached neither by the Ministry of Environment and Forests nor by the general public and scientists. Currently farmers rely exclusively on the application of pesticides to control EFSB and to produce blemish-free eggplant fruit. Small and marginal farmers use 25-80 sprays of pesticides in Brinjal cultivation. Therefore, alternative strategies of IPM will help to control and manage the...

HVAC maintain both comfort and safety of indoor air quality. The challenge of maintaining high product quality while simultaneously reducing production costs can often be met through investments in energy efficient technologies and energy efficiency practices. The greatest opportunities for energy efficiency exist at the design stage for HVAC systems in new industrial facilities. By sizing components of HVAC systems generally include dampers, supply and exhaust fans, filters, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, heating and cooling coils, ducts, and various sensors properly and designing energy efficiency into a new facility, an industry can minimize the energy consumption and operational costs of its plant HVAC systems from the outset. Optimizing system design and operations, such as minimizing laboratory ventilation, can also lead to significant reductions in energy use. Energy efficiency improvement is an important way to reduce these costs and to increase predictable earnings, especially in times of high energy price volatility. There are a variety of opportunities available at individual plants in the industry to reduce energy consumption in a cost-effective...

Allium sativum linn (Garlic) belong to family Liliaceae has been widely known since ancient times for medicinal use and for flavouring food. It contains large amount of sulphur containing compounds like Alliin, Allicin, Ajoene, Diallyl sulphide, Diallyl disulphide Diallyl trisulfide, Vinyldithiines which has beneficial activity including Antithrombotic, Anticancer, Antiviral, Antifungal and Antimicrobial, Anti-inflammatory etc. Ajoene is known as an inhibitor of platelet aggregation induced by all known agonists which also a good inhibitor of tumour and antifungal property. The present study deals with pharmacognostical parameters for bulb of Allium sativum which mainly consist of the detailed macromorphology of cloves and bulb, microscopy and micrometry of transverse section of cloves of Allium sativum linn which has been carried out by using MOTIC Digital Microscope. The other parameters like physicochemical constant and phytochemical screening were studied. The study will provide referential information for the correct identification and standardization of crude...

Aim: To compare the immunomodulatory effect of Ocimum sanctum and Ocimum basilicum in mice. Methods: Acute oral toxicity test was performed as per OECD -23 guidelines. Maximum dose level of 2000 mg/kg was selected for toxicological evaluation. Delayed type hypersensitivity reaction were carried out for assessment of cell mediated immune functions Result: Administration of Ocimum sanctum and Ocimum basilicum did not produced any mortality or any signs of behavioral changes or toxicity at the dose level of 2000 mg/kg body weight in mice. The result of the present study showed that acute administration of extract of Ocimum sanctum and Ocimum basilicum may be safe as the LD50 may be greater than 2000mg/kg. Treatment with Ocimum sanctum enhanced DTH reaction, which is reflected from foot pad thickness when compared with Ocimum basilicum and control groups whereas a similar effect was observed when compared to the reference drug Aswagandha choorna, which is a well-known immune booster. Conclusion: Increase in DTH reaction in mice in response in T cell dependent antigen revealed...

Overlapping genes are pairs of adjacent genes whose coding regions are partially or entirely overlapping. Overlapping genes in prokaryotes are a means to minimize genome size and increase the density of genetic information. Overlapping genes play an important role in genome reduction of Mycoplasmas during the course of their degenerative evolution. In this study overlapping genes in the genomes of two obligatory human parasites, Mycoplasma hominis and Mycoplasma penetrans were extracted and systematically analyzed. Overlapping genes were classified into different categories based on their direction of transcription. Gene pairs that occur as overlapping in both the genomes, gene pairs that occur as overlapping in one genome but are split in the other genome were separated out and more closely analysed. The study revealed that most of the overlapping genes in these genomes are formed due to loss of a stop codon or frame shift. The present study also emphasizes the significance of overlapping genes in the evolution of these...
