2-(4-methyl piperazin-1-yl) acetohydrazide was synthesized. The combined practice of IR, 1H NMR, and mass spectrometry established the structure of the synthesized compound. Geometry optimization was performed using DFT at the B3LYP level, employing the basis set 6-31G (d, p). For the optimized structure, surfaces were created to study excited state properties such as electrostatic potential mapped density, highest occupied molecular orbital, lowest unoccupied molecular orbital, ionization energy, and electron affinity. Electric dipole moment, bond length, and angles were computed using the same basis set for the optimized structure. ADMET prediction revealed that the compound possesses the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and is non-toxic. Further Molecular docking studies with Human Monoamine Oxidase A were carried out to predict the mono-amine inhibitory potential of the compound. The compound revealed better energy scores than the standard. The synthesized compound was evaluated from all aspects concerning essential structural features as well as interaction patterns against selected receptors to be an effective antidepressant. This study would provide an excellent platform to further...

In this work, gel/na-alginate films containing curcumin were made using the straightforward procedure of mixing gel/na-alg solutions, followed by linking with glutaraldehyde solution. Glutaraldehyde was injected into the film solutions made at various proportions (A: G=25:75, 50:50, 75:25 and 10:90), and the resulting film’s mechanical, thermal, and swelling characteristics were evaluated. Gelatin and Sodium alginate were combined in a biocompatible wound dressing material that was effectively used in the biomedical areas. Several biochemical and molecular waterfalls, such as swelling, tissue growth, and the remodeling stage, identify the wound healing procedure. The natural bioactive ingredient curcumin, an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and tissue regeneration factor, was introduced in the film. Also, iron oxide nanoparticles are very appealing due to their non-poisonous properties in biomedical applications of biological systems. Composite film loaded with curcumin and iron nanoparticles using biopolymers of gel/na-alg with the help of a crosslinker (glutaraldehyde). The synthesized films are characterized by numerous techniques, including XRD, FTIR, SEM, and Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA). The chemical studies also carried out were the welling...

Background: Thyroid disorders impact the cardiovascular system through direct and indirect mechanisms and are associated with a significantly increased risk of vascular morbidity and mortality. We undertook this study to evaluate the prevalence of thyroid dysfunction in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and to study the impact of thyroid dysfunction on morbidity and mortality among those patients during 1-year follow-up. Methods: We studied 303 consecutive hospitalized patients between March 2018-February 2021 with ACS to determine clinical and sub-clinical features of thyroid dysfunction and their effect on MACE at 1 year follow-up. They were subjected to full history, clinical examination, routine investigations, and estimation of TSH, FT4 and FT3. Results: The prevalence of thyroid dysfunction in acute coronary syndrome was19%and the majority had subclinical hypothyroidism 34 (11%), followed by overt hypothyroidism 20 (7%). Hyperthyroidism was uncommon (1.3%). There was a significant preponderance of females in the thyroid dysfunction group. The majority 136 (45%) of patients, had STEMI. MACE rates were higher in the thyroid dysfunction group as compared to...

The current study was undertaken to formulate and evaluate herbal hydrogel containing ethanolic seed extract of plant Coix lacryma jobi L. Hydrogel was prepared by ethanolic seed extract, carbapol 934p, aloevera gel extract, triethanolamine and methylparaben. The effects of critical parameters (concentration of Carbapol 934p and Aloe vera gel extract) were investigated by executing design of the experiment using 32 factorial designs through Design Expert 12 version software. All the formulations were developed and evaluated for visual inspection, pH, viscosity, spreadability, drug release and drug content. Optimized formulation was subjected to in-vitro antifungal activity against Candida albicans. It was observed that formulation variables X1: Carbapol 934p and X2: Aloeveragel extract significantly affected the response Y1: Viscosity (cp) and Y2: Drug release (% Drug release). Stability studies conducted under accelerated conditions and at room temperature were shown acceptable results. It was concluded that hydrogel containing coix ethanolic seed extract showed good consistency, spreadability, homogeneity, and stability. This study confirmed that quality by design is an effective approach for understanding the...

Background: Childhood obesity is an emerging public health concern in India and worldwide. A school-based study was conducted to estimate the prevalence of overweight and obesity in school-going children and educate them about obesity and its ill effects on health. Methods: The present study is an observational cross-sectional study on 426 6- to 14 students (Boys: 217, Girls: 209) from randomly selected schools in Jamshedpur City, Jharkhand. WHO, Standard Age, and Sex-specific Growth Reference charts defined overweight and obesity. Modified B.G Prasad Classification for socioeconomic scale (2022) was adopted to assess the family’s socioeconomic status. Results: Based on World Health Organization BMI references among 426 children, 15.5% and 6.1% of children were found overweight and obese, respectively. Obesity in children was found to have a significant association (P = 0.032) with age. The prevalence of overweight and obesity was higher among upper socioeconomic-class children (P = 0.004). Conclusion: Overweight and Obesity is prevalent in the study population. The high familial income, private school, dietary patterns, and decreased physical activity among the...
