Background: Following the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1978, the World Health Organization (WHO) began the issuance of guidelines for developing standardized herbal preparations from Traditional Medicine (TM). Similarly in 1987, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) launched the most anticipated industrial standard (ISO 9001) in world history. The seventh (7th) clause of ISO 9001’s eight clauses is devoted to “Product Realization”- a quality management system (QMS) procedure that includes: planning of product realization; appreciation of customer-related processes; design and development processes; purchasing; production and service provision; and control of measuring and monitoring equipment. Purpose: The article takes a hard look at the QMS processes involved in product realization and the critical stages of the WHO model of herbal drug development from TM, with a view to devising a framework that can be used to promote the production of quality herbal products, commencing from the stage of ethnobotanical survey, through the laboratory, to the clinic. Methodology: Both the WHO model of herbal drug development and the 7th clause of ISO 9001:2008...

The versatility of Aluminium chemistry will ensure its burgeoning use in the future in all manner of applications. This very same chemistry will also ensure its increased biological availability in all biota including Man. We do not know enough about the biological chemistry of a chronic and sub-acute exposure to Aluminium to be able to predict its impact on human health. Although the hypothesis of a link between Aluminium and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) has been supported by several epidemiological studies, there is much controversy regarding these findings and their interpretation. There is no doubt that the drugs discovered for neurodegenerative disease are far from ideal, there are no more than acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, in fact alternative medicine could be moderate and protect nerves from neurotoxicity and AD. Curcumin is one of strong medicinal species that prove antioxidative stress effect against reactions cascade of neurofibrillary tangles. Our aim is to clarify the role of Curcumin with a fixative of absorption as a protective and therapeutic agent against neurodegenerative disorders and Alzheimer’s...

Atherosclerosis is one of the risk factors for coronary artery disease. The present study highlights the antiatherosclerotic activity of Methanolic extract of polyherbal preparation in experimentally induced atherosclerotic rats. Atherosclerosis was developed in male Albino Wistar rats, which were randomly divided into five groups of six animals each; by feeding with high cholesterol diet for 21 days. Group 1 received normal diet. Group 2 received high cholesterol diet (HCD) which served as control. Group 5 served as standard, administered with Atorvastatin (10 mg/kg) along with HCD and Group 3 and Group 4 were administered with methanolic extract of polyherbal preparation (300 mg/kg and 600 mg/kg) along with HCD. Methanolic extract of polyherbal preparation reduced the raised serum level of total cholesterol, triglyceride , LDL ,VLDL and increased the serum HDL level as compared to the control group(High cholesterol group). There was increased HMG CoA/Mevalonate ratio in liver. There was also depletion of GSH content and increased level of SOD and MDA in liver. Methanolic extract of polyherbal preparation treated groups...

The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of cerebellum in immunomodulation as cerebellum was thought traditionally to play an important role in voluntary motor activities. Rats weighing about 200-220 gm were subjected to bilateral electrolytic lesion of fastigial nucleus and following immune parameters were assessed- leucocyte migration inhibition test, foot pad thickness, antibody titre and estimation of cytokines – IL-2, IL-4 and IFN-γ respectively in immunized animals. Rats were divided in to three groups, namely control immunized, sham immunized and lesioned immunized groups. The sham group was strictly considered for evaluation of lesion effect as superficial structures during surgical procedure gets damaged and could also influence on immunomodulation. The significance was fixed at P<0.05. There was significant increase in migration index with concomitant decrease in foot pad thickness in bilateral lesion immunized groups. Significant alterations in cytokine levels were observed in lesion immunized groups when compared with its respective control...

Ground water is the most preferred water source in current scenario. Once believed to be safe from pollution as it is available many band below the surface, is now provided to be prone to pollution by research investigators. Various causes associated for the contamination of ground water. The major cause of the contamination of ground water may be due to improper disposal of industrial waste. The effort was made to assess the quality of ground water and thrash out the portability of ground water by physico-chemical temperament. Present study was carried out to assess the ground water quality of Singrauli district an energy hub station of Madhya Pradesh state of India Study was conduct in year 2012 by selecting 13 different spots, covered all the four directions of Singrauli. Ground water samples were taken from different sources such as bore well, well water, municipal supplier water etc. Investigations of Physico-chemical characteristics of groundwater quality based on Physico-chemical parameters have been taken up to evaluate its suitability for different objects....
