The present study evaluated the antibacterial and antifungal activities of the medicinal plant Bauhinia vahlii. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of vacuum dried ethanol extract of the stem and leaves of Bauhinia vahlii (EEBVS and EEBVL) were performed using the Disc diffusion method. The antibacterial and antifungal activities recorded significant effects against five bacterial strains, including Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi and two fungal strains, including Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger. The ethanol extracts of Bauhinia vahlii stem and leaves were showed the significant antibacterial effect of different bacterial strains and antifungal activity of fungal strains in the ethanol extract of stem (14 mm) but more activity observed in the ethanol extract of leaves (17 mm) in the Escherichia coli bacterial strain against different bacterial strains as compared to standard drug Amikacin (19 mm) whereas more potent in ethanol extracts of leaves (19 mm) in the fungal strain Candida albicans as compared to standard drug fluconazole (21 mm) as observed by zones of inhibitions...

The current study aims to develop a reversed-phase HPLC method for quantifying the active substances of Fenticonazole Nitrate (FENTI), Tinidazole (TINI) and Lidocaine base (LIDO) simultaneously and to validate the proposed method for the intended analytical application in the bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form by ICH guidelines. In this work, the behaviour of f FENTI, TINI and LIDO was studied under various degradative conditions, and a stability-indicating LC method was developed to separate the degradation products and quantify the drug in their presence. The mobile phase Phosphate buffering agent: Methanol: Acetonitrile (60:30:10; v: v: v), Hypersil Phenyl type silica column, with flow rate 1.0ml, detection wavelength 210nm, column temperature at 40ºC and Methanolis used as diluents. System Suitability, Specificity, Precision, Linearity, Accuracy, and Robustness parameters were all validated. The system suitability parameters were investigated by injecting the standard six times, and the results were well below the acceptance threshold. Linearity parameter was investigated at levels ranging from 80% to 120%, with a r2 value of 0.999 discovered. The formulation...

The preparation of metal-based Indian traditional drugs involves the conversion of pure metal into its therapeutically effective form. “Tamra Bhasma” (calcined copper) is one such herbometallic preparation used for various medical conditions like anaemia, obesity, and skin disease, disorders of the liver and spleen, hyper-acidity, rhinitis, hemorrhoids. A detailed evaluation of the changes occurring during each step of pharmaceutical processing, factors affecting the type of Puta and its physicochemical characterization has been examined in the present work. The pharmaceutical preparation of “Tamra Bhasma” (TB) includes quenching in liquid media, then boiling in liquid, followed by calcination and finally to remove the leftover blemishes, potentiation is carried out. Traditional Puta (the process of controlled heating and cooling) system has been used for its calcinations and Kajjali and Gandhaka have been used as media for calcinations of Tamra. TB has been subjected to different physicochemical characterization using XRD and SEM-EDXA. The result suggests that Bhasma Parikshas (confirmatory tests) are the most reliable criteria to authenticate the formation of a good quality...

Herbal medicine (also herbalism) is the study of pharmacognosy and the use of medicinal plants, which are the basis of traditional medicine. Any damage or break in the surface of the skin is a wound. In Soxhlet extraction, solvent extraction involves extraction with solvents of increasing polarity from a nonpolar to a more polar solvent to ensure that a wide polarity range of compounds can be extracted. 1 % of the extract was incorporated in the preparation of gel formulation using Carbomer 940 polymer as gelling agent. Three formulae 1, 2 and 3 of gel containing varying concentrations of Carbomer 940(0.5, 1 and 1.5%) were prepared. Carbomer 940 was soaked in distilled water overnight. Selected extracts were dissolved in ethanol. Standard methods and results examined different Physicochemical evaluation parameters of formulated ointments were found within the acceptable limits. Cissampelos Pareira Vein-islet number/mm2 was 3.6 and it ranges from 3.5 to 3.9. the Palisade ratio was 3, and it ranges from 2.75 to 3.75. The Stomata length (µm) was found...

Tacrolimus being the drug of choice in prevention of transplanted organ from rejection suffers from low oral bioavailability and dose-dependent side effects. An attempt was made to formulate tacrolimus into subglossal (sublingual) fast dissolving films containing ethosomes using ethanol and soyalecithin to enhance systemic availability of drug with controlled delivery of drug. Ethosomes were prepared by modified mechanical dispersion method and were optimized by central composite design to arrive for best drug-loaded ethosome dispersion. Optimized formulations were characterized for vesicle size, Deformability index and entrapment efficiency. Subglossal films were prepared for best and optimized dispersion using HPMC K15M and PEG-400 as film-forming polymer and plasticizer respectively. Formulated fast dissolving subglossal films were optimized by Box benhkendesign and characterized for physical characteristics like appearance, pH, thickness, disintegration time, in-vitro release, Histopathology studies, stability and in-vivo pharmacokinetics in rats. Higher drug plasma levels were shown by optimized subglossal film when compared with that of oral pengraf capsules. These results suggests the potential of nanovesicle fast dissolving films as effective drug carriers...
