Ethanolic extracts of Rivea hypocraterformis, Methanolic extract of Cynodon dactylone and Water extract of Balanite aegypticae were tested for their in vitro antilithiatic /anticalcification activity by the homogenous precipitation method. The extracts were compared with an aqueous extract of cystone (a marketed preparation) for their activities. Extracts of Rivea hypocraterformis showed activity almost equivalent to cystone while Cynodon dactylone and Balanite aegypticae showed less...

A simple reversed phase HPLC method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of olmesartan medoxomil in combination with hydrochlorothiazide. The method was based on reversed phase liquid chromatography using a Grace Smart RP C18 column (250 × 4.6 mm, 5µ) with UV detection at 256 nm. The mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile and triethylamine buffer adjusted to pH 2.7 in a ratio of (30:70, v/v) and at a flow rate of 2 ml/min. The method was linear over the concentration range for olmesartan medoxomil 4.0-40.0 μg/mL and for hydrochlorothiazide 5.0-50.0 μg/mL. The recoveries of olmesartan medoxomil and hydrochlorothiazide were found to be in the range of 99.25-100.46% and 99.31-102.13% respectively. The method was validated and was successfully employed for the analysis of pharmaceutical formulations containing olmesartan medoxomil and hydrochlorothiazide in combined tablet dosage...

The present investigation was taken up to prepare and evaluate a transdermal drug delivery system (patch) of Raloxifene Hydrochloride to increase its bioavailability. The matrix type patches were prepared using different ratios of Eudragit RL100, Poly vinyl Pyrrolidone K-30, HPMC, CAP and PEG6000 in different ratios. All the prepared formulations were subjected to physical studies (weight variation, thickness, moisture content, moisture uptake, flatness, Water Vapour transmission rate, folding endurance, tensile strength, and % elongation), thumb tack test, in vitro release studies, and in vitro diffusion studies. In vitro permeation studies were performed using artificial membrane and across skin derived from albino rat. The accelerated stability studies for the formulations were performed as per the ICH guidelines. The studies showed that formulation prepared with HPMC and CAP in ratio 5:2 with adhesive polyisobutylene and Eudragit RL100 & PVP in ratio 6:4 (self sticking) were the effective systems to achieve desired results. The interaction studies carried out by comparing the results of TLC, Infrared and UV analysis of pure drug and...

Wheat belongs to the genus Triticum of the grass family, Poaceae. This genus is originated in tropical South west Asia, where it occurs in wild as well as in cultivated forms. Man has depended upon the wheat plant for thousands of years. Wheat (the Triticum spp.) is cultivated worldwide. The grain production varies from year to year and hence the grains should be stored strategically from years of overproduction for the use in year of under production. Also grain must be stored for several other reasons such as point of production is not the point of consumption and the time of production is not the time of consumption. Stored grains can have losses in both quantity and quality. Grain quality after harvest is influenced by a wide variety of biotic and abiotic factors and has been studied as a stored grain ecosystem. Losses occur when the grain is attacked by microorganism and other organisms including insects, mites, rodents and birds. The grain losses found in quantity and quality; can...

Aim: The aim of this retrospective study is analysis of results of patient treatment outcome when prescribing chemotherapy and radiotherapy as concomitant setup as compared to radiotherapy alone for patients with anal canal carcinoma and related complications of this mode of treatment. Materials and Methods: 24 patients of anal canal cancer (squamous cell carcinoma-17 and adenocarcinoma-7)of median age 53.62 years (Range 20-80 year), tumor stage T1/T2-5 patients and stage T3/T4-19 patients with nodal positive 12, (9 inguinal, 3 pelvic) were treated . 11 patients received Pelvic RT-50 Gy/25 Fr/5 wks and concomitant CT with 5-FU and were designated as Group A, and 13 patients were treated with Radiotherapy alone and grouped as Group-B. Results: Seven patients of concomitant chemotherapy group (63.63%) and 4 of without chemotherapy (30.76%) achieved complete response. 4 patient in concomitant CT group (36.36%) and 9 patients in without CT group (69.23%) achieved partial response. Treatment related complication developed in 13 patients (54.16%) mainly skin reaction and diarrhea of grade II. Conclusion: The combination of radiation...
