Ampicillin is used to treat variety of Bacterial infections in Humans. Piperine, an alkaloid from Piper species is reported to enhance oral bioavailability of co-administered drugs. The present study was aimed to include to Piperine (bioenhancer) as a formulation additive in oral formulations of Ampicillin Trihydrate. So, a Physical mixture of Ampicillin Trihydrate and Piperine (1:1) was tested for their compatibility by DSC, TLC and FT-IR techniques. Stability of the mixture was assessed by the use of ICH guidelines. The above studies have proved that Piperine can be used as a formulation additive (bioenhancer), in oral formulations of Ampicillin...

Quercetin is the most abundant natural flavonoid, present in medicinal plants. Quercetin is of interest because of its pharmacological function. Quantification of quercetin from the dried leaves of Melia azadirachta and Murraya koiengi was carried out based on chromatographic separation. Sensitive, simple, and accurate high-performance liquid chromatographic method has been established for detection of quercetin in Melia azadirachta & Murraya koeingi dry leaf...

Familial cancers, which are in general incapable of exhibiting symptoms at the early onset period of the disease, can become fatal if left undiagnosed. Such cancers turn out to be a great threat through many generations in the long run. The remedial alternative to this is treatment at the genetic level which quite obviously points out to gene therapy. In this work, gene therapy proposed at the pre-transcriptional level intends to silence mutation of the target gene, thereby inhibiting or silencing gene expression in the form of a defective protein. Skin cancer, the second most common type of cancers widespread across the globe, has been considered for our studies. Phytochemicals that have been reported to have anti-skin cancer properties (at the protein level – acting on the defective protein targets), have been further investigated for antimutagenic activity at the gene level (intended to act on gene targets). Lutein and crocetin have been reported to show antimutagenic behavior towards the skin cancer genes considered in the analysis. Considering the drug-likeness...

The aim of work is to characterization and evaluation of fast dissolving tablet of Granisetron hydrochloride using three superdisintegrants like crosscarmellose sodium, crosspovidone and sodium starch glycolate. FTIR studies revealed that there was no physico-chemical interaction between granisetron hydrochloride and other excipients. The tablets were prepared by dry granulation method and all had the same amount of ingredients except, the superdisintegrant level. The prepared batches of tablets were evaluated for uniformity of weight, thickness, hardness, friability, disintegration time and in-vitro dissolution study. Tablet containing crosspovidone showed excellent disintegration time and drug release as compared to other...

Schwannomas are usually benign tumors that result from the proliferation of the perineural cells. Since these tumors are very rare, misdiagnosis is common. Clinically, these tumors may present as a cranial neuropathy, abdominal or soft tissue mass, intracranial lesion, or with spinal cord compression. Histologically, these tumors are encapsulated, highly vascular, and composed of a homogenous pattern of biphasic fusiform-shaped cells that may have a palisaded appearance. We present a case of nineteen years old primigravida with 22 weeks pregnancy with an adnexal mass. The diagnosis of schwannomas was made on laprotomy and confirmed on histopathological examination. The case is reported not only due to its rarity but due to its association with pregnancy and its successful outcome....
