The present study deals with evaluation of antioxidant, wound healing and anti-inflammatory activity of ethanolic extract of leaves of Ficus religiosa. The ethanolic extract prepared by maceration technique was subjected to screen for antioxidant activity using DPPH radical scavenging method and wound healing activity using incision, excision, histopathological and dead space wound model and the study was supported with evaluation of granuloma tissue to estimate hydroxyproline content and histopathological evaluation. The anti-inflammatory study was carried out by using carageenan induced rat paw odema method. The tested extract of different dilutions in range 200µg/ml to 1000 µg/ml shows activity in range of 6.34% to 13.35%. Significant increase in wound closure rate, skin breaking strength, granuloma breaking strength was observed. The hydroxyproline content was also increased with decrease in scar area. A microwave assisted extraction technique was developed to optimize the extraction of mucilage from the fruits of Trichosenthes dioica plant. Materials and Methods: the plant has been extracted by conventional and microwave assisted methods for the isolation of mucilage. Results and Discussion: Microwave extraction at 320 W intensity and 20 min heating duration, 84.92% increase in the yield of mucilage while 52.06% and 38.09% increase in the yield at 640 W for 5 min and 160 W for 40 min respectively were obtained under microwave irradiation when compared to 1 h conventional heating method. The present endeavour was directed towards fabrication of the novel colon drug delivery system of ketorolac tromethamine capsule. Hard gelatin Capsules were fabricated using combination of both microflora activated natural polysaccharide (guar gum) and pH-dependent polymer (cellulose acetate phthalate). In vitro drug release studies revealed that Ketorolac tromethamine granules bearing hard gelatin capsules coated with cellulose acetate phthalate released drug only at higher pH (6.8 PBS), in vitro drug release studies showed that capsules were retained in stomach pH (1.2 N HCl) with-out any drug release, whereas minimal amount of drug release in small intestine pH (7.4 PBS) and almost drug release showed in the colonic pH (6.8 PBS). The rate of drug release was observed fast with caecal content (4% w/w rat caecal) than the control medium. The plant Tephrosia purpurea L. is commonly known as Unhali. T. purpurea (Leguminosae) is a copiously branched perennial herb. Present work was undertaken to study antioxidant potential of the plant. Dried ethanol and aqueous extracts plant were screened for in-vitro antioxidant activity by DPPH assay and nitric oxide screening methods. Results showed that IC50 value of aqueous extract in DPPH assay and nitric oxide scavenging assay are 78 ug/ml and 89 ug/ml respectively. Phytochemical screening revealed that flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins and phenolic compound are present in aqueous extract and may be responsible for the activity. The hepatoprotective activity of juice of Saccharum officinarum was investigated against paracetamol (acetaminophen) induced liver damage in rats. Paracetamol (PCM) is analgesic, antipyretics drugs available as an over the counter (OTC) medication which cause hepatotoxicity as higher doses. Paracetamol at 3gm/kg induced liver damage in rats manifested by statically increased serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphates (ALP), total and direct billirubin. The antioxidant parameter malondialdehyde (MDA) level was increase and reduced glutathione (GHS), total protein (TP) level were decrease. The physical parameter of liver weight and volume also increase. Histopatholgical and in vitro (% of cell viability) studies of the experimental animals were also done.
